Although this fine program went over like a turd in the punchbowl
This year. How about when "the enemy from within" starts attacking? I'll bet that'll be verbatim, too. Troops won't attack their own people unless you find a reason why their own people are "the enemy." This will be instrumental in quelling the protesters when things escalate enough.

otherwise you run a very real danger of being branded as "Anti-American" and you going away, or becoming "An Unperson" if you will.
Or be "detained." Didn't we used to get pissed off at the Chinese for this? People have strange notions of what makes them a part of this country though. I heard someone on the bus loudly declare that it was unamerican not to consume large amounts of television.

I recently read a statement regarding all this...

It was the question of: who are the real terrorists, and who is more terrifying...

I recently had that argument with my dad; who thinks law enforcement should have unlimited power. (Needless to say, we have some knock-down-drag-out fights.. luckily I am bigger) Terrorists are bottom feeders that nip at the heels of our lifestyle. However, there are people in government whom want to control every aspect of it "for our safety". I rather have to put up with a bit of uncertainty in life as opposed for it to be chosen for me..

(Yes, I am drunk and cranky now.. ) :)

That is what scares the hell out of me about the PATRIOT act. If you are a suspected terrorist, you can be detained w/o trial, bail, or council. How long will it be before anyone whom is against the norm is an enemy from within.

You are very correct.. unless the troops feel threatened, they will sometimes even rebel against their commanders if ordered to attack their own countrymen. By making anyone with the gall to stand up to current policy "un-American", they can take the moral high ground when telling them to use the jackboots to kick in the door and drag someone away..

I am beginning to think the ultimate in "un-American" is to not be completely apathetic...
Has Bill Hicks said.. “Go back to bed, America! Here is American Gladiators!”

                last rant for the night..

"Beware the leader who bangs the drums of war in order to whip the citizenry into a patriotic fervor, for patriotism is indeed a double-edged sword. It both emboldens the blood, just as it narrows the mind. And when the drums of war have reached a fever pitch and the blood boils with hate and the mind has closed, the leader will have no need in seizing the rights of the citizenry. Rather, the citizenry, infused with fear and blinded by patriotism, will offer up all of their rights unto the leader and gladly so. How do I know? For this is what I have done. And I am Caesar."

(Note: this was not said by Caesar, it is more or less an urban legend. Still.. it makes sense, no? )

Ok... enough crabbiness for the night.. :o

There has only been a few attacks of terorism within like 5 years. I think that the government is obsessing a bit.

I just read the 1984 statment on the bottom of che's posts "Read 1984. Compare it to today. Repeat if necessary" --BOFH_Che I agree with this i had to read that book and the government is changing like this and will sooner or later be very close to that.

The problem with the media is that they only put out what people like to hear because thats what gets them money.

I wish the government would stop labeling almost everything a terrorist or a terrorist tool, whats gona be next cows?

"The government announced earlier today that the milk from cows could be used to distract police while a terrorist blows up somthing and now all dairy farms will be placed on high alert"
