yes i think everyone here is pretty familiar with them. they have had several presentations at defcon (http://www.zeroknowledge.com/), and i have been in contact (under an alias) to the more specifics of their technology... it is all very nice, though this model works better the more people use it... and will work best when they implement their network model that involves their spoofed network pulse which required greater bandwidth than was available at the time with the number of zk servers available...
last i heard though they were not faring as well as they had hoped by their projections at this date. I have not played with any of their recent stuff such as 3.2 but would be interested to know what progress has been made and if anything new has been implemented from their earlier systems. Does anyone have a current count of their zero knowledge servers?

Well... they dropped the really nice Freedom.net anonymizing service... it is a great loss. The new service is NOTHING compared to what the old one was. Not only is the cost not comparable, it also doesn't have the nifty complete anonymity offered by the old nym service, and doesn't transfer to all services, like e-mail, IRC, bulletin boards, etc. It's also exclusively a Win-based product now.

The original Zero Knowledge project is somewhat dead(but source code is available). It was costing them more to maintain the infrastructure than they was able to make in money selling their services.... Look like they was before their time...

So the compagny still exist but they Fired aloth of ppl and moved into a smaller office, and they are a small compagny again... Now they mostly sell their Freedom suite that offer stuff like Personal Firewall, Anti-Virus,...

Now that we've established that Dataworm has been smoking the crack pipe...

Good morning Dataworm... nice of you to join us. ;-)

Blackwave may move this thread but...

Speaking of code being available but a service being dead, I wonder if one can purchase the rights and breathe new life into the program. SOme of the good stuff is not run by huge corporations but rather individuals who do it out of love for the program. I'd love to get Free-Tel back up and running myself.

As for purchasing the rights, that's not necessary with the old Freedom service. That's why they made the code available. I had talked with a few people before, both from their company as well as friends of mine, in hopes of resurrecting it, but you really need a lot of collaborators with a good many servers in many different locations, all with adequate bandwidth, in order to support the service.
