  • ANNOUNCE: Defcon Movie Channel

I know some of you have seen the post on defcon.org, but we still need more suggestions for the Defcon Movie Channel. Think Hacker Films, Anime, Blood Operas and the like.

We need to know what you want to see and when you want to see it, so head over to the suggestions area and let us know.

Also, if you have and suggestions on how the channel should be run, we'd like to hear them. We have a plan worked out for now. But we want to make sure we don't leave anything out that might make the experience better.

    Two Things:

    1) Please look at the movies that have been approved before suggesting. When you suggest Tron and it has already been approved and shown as Encoded, you are being lame.

    2) You can suggest more than one movie per suggestion. That is why the box is large. You can say why you want to see it. No need to make one suggestion for each film.

    Thanks in Advance.

Wow! that is really high quality Divx... I'm usually picky about mine and they are only 800MB-1.2GB each. Very good idea. Last year I remember passing out to the background music of hackers, and waking up to it. :)
if it gets me nowhere, I'll go there proud; and I'm gonna go there free.

Not sure if both sites are using the same database, but an fyi on the defcon website (www.defcon.org) linking to http://www.rootcompromise.org/defcontv/ instead of defcontv.org ... personally I was uploading my suggestions to http://www.rootcompromise.org/defcontv/ where I could have sworn I suggested a ton more... :/ should I re-suggest them on www.defcontv.org ... or was it just that my suggestions sucked? nevertheless any new suggestions I have will certainly be suggested on defcontv.org

*also i just noticed that on the suggestions page (as well as the details, tv guide, and about us) the defcon tv logo on the left is linking to http://www.rootcompromise.org/defcontv/ instead of defcontv.org as well

Both sites are using the same database, but I will change that link. Thanks BW. You are my hero.

And yes I saw your suggestions "Girls in Bikinis Shooting Big Guns". But the suggestions are posted based on the first one to suggest it. So if you post Fight Club and someone Suggested it before you, they get the lovin'. Also, some of the movies that are being suggested are great ideas but do not come on DVD, since we are ripping all of these to 1400-2100 bitrate. DVD is the best way to go, so people won't complain about artifacts in the films.

Also, there is no way in hell I am going to sit and VidCap from VHS. Sorry, just not gonna do it.

What is this "VHS" thing you talk of? It sounds interesting....

My suggestions apparently lacked wang too...

To have less wang than Antitrust... that is embarassing!

I was referring more to Andromeda Strain and Logan's Run. Especially Andromeda Strain... everyone agrees this is quite wangful.

It's not that Andromeda Strain has more or less wang than Antitrust. I just happen to own Antitrust and it is geek related. Also, we had 4 people request it, and only one request Andromeda Strain.

Props to the peeps for the requests.

Quite frankly, we forgot about a few movies that y'all requested, and some of them are going to make it in, many more won't. We only have so much time...

You will not be disappointed, however, the final list will have much wang.

                            req: rejection list be disclosed

I am sure that many are typing in the same movies that have been rejected. How about adding a link to where we can view all the rejected movie, or add some type of mechanism that would compare what the user entered with what was on the reject list and display to the user that the movie has been rejected, and perhaps why, and how many rejections have been made so far on the movie they suggested... :) ... now that would be *wangy

*pardon me, this is the first time I have used the word wang, it is very possible that I am using it incorrectly... in some slang references wang is the opposite of what it appears to be used here... :/

We don't have a rejection list, per-se, but i'll let it be known that Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within, while a fine movie, will not be playing.

Sorry to all of you who requested it ( nobody ). Perhaps if we have more time next year, or two channels, like DCTV north/south or east/west, we can make this happen.

Again, all appologies to anyone who was going to "wang-it" to the completely computer animated chick.

(sorry, had to use the word wang somewhere)
