Correct me if I'm wrong, but Modesto is in the US, and in the US, 18 is an adult. If you really want to go, get in the car and go.

I still wouldn't expect offers of a ride without presenting several REALLY convincing forms of photo ID. "Mommy and daddy don't want me to go... but I'm 18... really I am... I just have...umm... a growth disorder... YEAH, THAT'S IT!!"

Another request to add to the list of "really bad ideas". While I'm sure there are people who would love to help you out, transporting a minor across state lines is a Very Bad Thing. A "note from your parents" or even meeting people claiming to be your parents isn't going to ease most peoples' minds much. This is a really paranoid bunch, and as most people know that there are a lot of minors that will stop at nothing to get to Defcon, with or without their parents' consent (usually without), I don't think you will find many takers. Any that do are foolish and asking for trouble.

Sorry kid... save up the money for a plane ticket, and get mom and dad to purchase it with their credit card. Avoids hassle, and helps to show that you had consent.

hey guys i was curious if anyone is near modesto that would be willing to give me a ride and shit to vegas for defcon...my parents wont let me drive there..and i dont want to spend the money on a plane ticket
