  • Wat (Transation: What are the details on the Car Hacking Village?)

This is relevant to my interests. Alas, my limited google-fu reveals little in the way of detail. I would like to know more about this village before packing a CANalyzer and Deutsch DT crimper. Heard rumors of Tesla involvement. thx u.

There is an article about this on forbes:
    http://www.forbes.com/sites/thomasbr...acking-defcon/

JavaScript is required for forbes.com and forbesimg.com at a minimum to see the article. If you see an intermediate page "Click to proceed to site" that link should take you to the article.

I do not run this event at DEF CON (car Hacking Village) so I have no official or unofficial answers to your questions.

    HTH,
    -Cot

      More? An older article:

" Tesla to Attend DefCon Again, Says it Won’t Be Running An Official Hacking Competition "

Again, I am not an organizer for this event, and have zero official capacity to claim anything for it or any other contest, event, village or social gathering. What I provided here were sources for readers to investigate, and consider on their how relevant and accurate they are or will be for DEF CON this year.

We're working on putting a web site up (should be very soon). But to answer your question, we will be providing hardware. Feel free to bring your own however.

            There will be several Zones:
            * DRIVER Information Zone
            * ANTILOCK Brake It Zone (Pull apart a car to get to modules for physical access)
            * TURBO Learning Zone (15~30 drop-in free classes on specialized topics. Check the soon to be announced web-site for the schedule)
            * 12 VOLT Buck Hacking Zone (Here we will have electronic control units for you to open hack)
            * A/C Chill Zone (A place to have a dialog about Car Hacking)

But the most important part is we will have a Car Hacking Village Badge. Details to come, but we will have a contest called Capture The VIN.

Is there any registration? Or does anyone just show up to the workshop.

Just show up. Seating is limited. But no registration, no cost.
