Creative Writing Contest: #DCShortStory - Winners!

Thank you all for your submissions. The stories this year were amazing. Picking winners was really difficult but we prevailed and have picked winners.
You have waited long enough, now onwards to free badges and group approbations!



After checking votes to ensure no one voted multiple times, our People's Choice winner is: "The Backup" by Leah Thompson, a story about what could happen if you backup your consciousness to a machine.

Dystopian future, where the machines rein supreme? Heck yes! Our Second Place Winner is: "Alice" by Avi Zajac.

Everyone loves a good story with a horror/thriller twist, so our First Place Winner is: "Consumed" by Tyler Rosonke.

And as of today/tonight all of the stories (excluding one by author request) have been submitted to DEFCON for inclusion on the conference DVD, as promised in the "Da Rules." Way to go, writers! Great job this year! We had fewer submissions but they were all well written, detailed, and some even quite a bit longer this year! Nice one! Pay attention to the Twitter account during con for updates on badge pickup(winners) and Contest Closing Ceremony information as required! And hey, have a great time at DEFCON 24, and the rest of Hacker Summer Camp 2016!
