    Just checking - are the DefCon tickets $300 per day - or for the duration of DefCon? What happens if the event is mega busy - is there an actual chance of flying out there and not being able to get a ticket ?

    Forgot to say, I know BH has previously given the 'option' to buy a DefCon badge if you do training - but just wanted to know
    The cost of the badge is a one-time cost for the duration of DEF CON from Thursday through to Sunday.

    There are other things that happen at DEF CON which are not covered by the purchase of a badge. Some include:
    * Private Parties
    * Training Sessions
    * SWAG
    * Food
    * Hotel room
    * Transportation costs
    * (more)

    But access to the speaker tracks to hear main-room speakers, villages, contests/events room, and the entertainment spaces hosted by DEF CON work with the same DEF CON Badge.

    Is there a chance of not being able to get a ticket?
    It has not happened before, but I guess it is *possible* even if very unlikely.
    There has been disappointment from some people as not being able to get a "real" badge, and this disappointment tends to be louder when the "real" badge is an electronic bagde.
    DEF CON only purchases a certain number of "real" badges based on expectations on how many attendees may show up. Because badges are sold for cash, in person, it is very hard to predict how many badges should be made. As a result, when badges are ordered, if more people show up to buy badges than were expected, then DEF CON moves to provide "alternate" badges" which may be printed on paper, or something else. These badges afford the same access to DEF CON as the "real" badges.
