Hack-A-Sat CTF Qualification Event Update, Resources to Learn and More!
A quick update to our budding satellite hacking community!
Hack-A-Sat quals took place last weekend and we are thrilled by the turnout! The unofficial scoreboard is publicly viewable here: https://quals.2020.hackasat.com/scoreboard/complete
Organizers will be verifying scores and receiving technical write-ups from the top teams over the coming weeks which will lead to the announcement of an official scoreboard before the end of June. These official results will determine the top teams that will be invited to the ultimate test: the Hack-A-Sat Final Event during DEF CON 28: Safe Mode with Networking.
We would like to thank everyone who played! This is all about learning and building a community that pioneers the security and resilience of the space systems that will orbit our world in the decades to come. We are excited and honored to have the world’s best security researchers interested in taking on this challenge and embracing the learning curve so that space is secure, sooner, together!
We know there will be growing pains and confusing parts for all of us as we navigate this path, but your patience and skill have been a big inspiration for us.
We have worked up some fun challenges and content for you to continue to learn from as we await the first ever DEF CON Safe Mode with Networking in August!- Quals will remain open until August 10, 2020 for those of you who missed it last weekend or would like to continue troubleshooting where you left off! Register and play here: https://www.hackasat.com/keep-learning
On that note…
The Aerospace Village would love it if you would consider creating a walk-through video of how you solved some of the key challenges during the qualifying weekend. These videos would then be used by the Aerospace Village and on the DEF CON forums as a way to help teach others in the community about how you worked through these challenges.
Please let the village know if you would be happy to do this for the community and what challenges you would be happy to show the world by emailing them at village@aerospacevillage.org! The Aerospace Village will then get back to you to confirm which one they would be thrilled to have you cover.- We will continue to curate and compile learning resources for aerospace security researchers! Access here: https://www.hackasat.com/keep-learning
- Watch the Hack-A-Sat story unfold and pay close attention to every piece of content we drop from now until August! There will be easter eggs and educational content for all levels of the space security research community to continue learning. Watch here: https://www.hackasat.com/thestory
Enjoy and thank you to everyone!
