What a bummer, I didn't see this until after I arrived in Vegas and only have a picture of my vaccine card. The policy requirement that not just vaccinated but originally vaccine card and not a picture should have been more clearly stated. Everywhere else that is requiring proof of vaccination accepts a photo.

FWIW, I also did not get an email from info@infocon.org, though I did receive several from shop@mail.defcon.org. Glad I caught this thread - I was planning to just show a photo of my COVID card (also has no signature, btw).

Thanks for clarifying. The issue you have is that the flow for purchase that you experienced did not include the same description as when you click on the item description. I can understand this as a complaint, but I cannot do anything about it. If there is an issue with the forums, that is a space I have control and authority to manage, upgrade and alter (within reason as Jeff can veto any potential change I might make.)

Voicing your concern with the flow and process you used when buying products as problematic are good to post here. Posting it here can allow others that see an issue with this flow, and give them an opportunity to find other solutions and propose them.

This is often made better with constructive criticism, which I infer that you implied as "adding requirements to the flow you completed when purchasing a badge." Please pass that as a suggestion to shop@defcon.org to see if that is a change they can make in the future.

Thanks for starting this conversation, and feel free to cultivate it on the forums, and encourage other people to join you in the discussion to find any other solutions, to offer constructive criticism to the https://shop.defcon.org/ website content.

https://shop.defcon.org/ and https://shop.defcon.org/products/def-con-29 are not the same, obviously. What do you see when you visit https://shop.defcon.org? I see
    <image with href to https://shop.defcon.org/products/def-con-29>
    <button>ADD TO CART
DEF CON 29 IN-PERSON TICKET ALL SALES FINAL
    $300.00

If you click on Add to Cart, you get exactly what I stated and exactly what I experienced. If you click on the image, then you get taken to the product page, which I did not. I didnt write the code nor can I modify it but it remains exactly like that today. Probably removing the Add to Cart button forcing the customer to the product page and not allow direct checkout would have resolved this particular issue. Anyways, thanks again for the response and I apologize that you have to waste any time responding to this.

For this, the primary and secondary items are (1)"your final dose (dose 2/2 for Moderna/Pfizer, or 1/1 for J&J, or last in series for others) is completed no later than July 22, 2021" *and* (2)"the document should be the original." The tertiary requirement of (3)"it being signed" is only if the original document is signed. If the original document provided by your vaccination provider does not include sigs, then satisfying the other 2 should be sufficient: original document and date of last in series of vaccine completed no later than July 22, 2021.)
This is based on the present policies published as of July 29, 2021.

    UPDATE: (From Dark Tangent (Jeff))

Jeff has worked with SOC goons, and Badge-package assembly (badge, Human+ code, program, + etc. bundle) and sales goons to find a possible way for people unwilling or unable to pick up an in-person badge, to have a trusted proxy pick it up for them.

If you will be in Las Vegas, but you are unwilling or unable to pick up your DEF CON badge in-person, and you have a friend you trust with your badge and codes, and your friend meets all of the prerequisites for picking up an in-person DEF CON 29 Human badge, you can provide your friend with your DEF CON 29 Badge redemption code, and they can redeem your code to get you your in-person badge.

This does not grant you access to in-person DEF CON if you do not meet the requirements for entry including a wristband which indicates you provided proof of vaccination, but it could get you your in-person badge and Human+ code for Discord.

Next, the same option could work if you will not be in Las Vegas, but you have a trusted friend who is willing and able to be your proxy in-person at DEF CON and they can complete their vaccination check and complete any other prerequisites, and then claim your code for you, and bring/ships your in-person badge to you, and maybe even send an encrypted message with your Human+ DEF CON Discord Server Human+ code then then you might be able to get your in-person badge without being in Las Vegas.

These are not ideal solution, and they have their own requirements (having a trusted friend who meets all of the prerequisites and is willing and able to be your proxy) but hopefully it opens up a path for you to solve these last requirements?

Sorry I don't have better news.
(I do not make or set policies or provide exceptions. I can only provide what is present policy, as best as I can find it.)

Actually, on https://shop.defcon.org/ there is no mention of the requirement. If you click on Add to Cart, no mention. When you go through the checkout process, no mention. When you receive an email with the receipt and another with the tickets, no mention on either. That was exactly how I bought tickets and that can be reproduced today. I'm NOT trying to be any kind of an ass or argue with you, but Ive got $1000 in expenses I cant reclaim (I will email the shop as you recommended, thank you) and this is causing serious anxiety. I just want to enjoy the Con and see friends again.

This "signed" requirement for the vaccination proof strikes me odd as well, and not just because my card has no signature, just two different scribbles as to where I got the shots.

I do not set policy, or make exceptions and I am not speaking/writing for Jeff.

When I replied to you (above) I included a definition to what "fully vaccinated" meant. (It wasn't any kind of offer for exception, because I am not permitted to offer those.)

I can quote the present policies, which you almost certainly already know:

I do not control the " https://shop.defcon.org/ " site and don't have the history of content changes. I can't confirm the item description has always been what is presented now or not. (I do know that a month ago or more it mentioned options for partial refunds up until a certain date, but I don't remember the text or the date. For those details, contact shop@defcon.org if you plan to exercise them.)

As for other ways to claim an in-person badge, in-person if you don't have the prerequisite vaccination requirements? I don't know of any present policies to address that. I've heard claims that other things can be done, but nothing firm on that topic. (Every year I hear claims about things being done which never become true.) It is possible things could change but I can't say it will change when I don't know.

With that flow described, you would not be able to pick up your badge in-person if the prerequisite if to pass through the vaccination confirmation check.

Will there be an option to pick up badges in-person after the convention is over some time late Sunday? I don't know.
Will there be a way to get a badge mailed? I don't know.

If you have questions about any kind of refund or exchange, I am unable to help you with that except to point you to contact shop@defcon.org (they have authority over purchase options which I do not.)

The only thing I can manage policy for and provide exceptions for is content on the forums and user account work on the forums.

So obviously I am going to get the finger at the door, even though when I bought tickets, there was nothing during checkout regarding this rule, nothing on the email receipt for the $600 I spent, nor anything on the email with the tickets. I cant cancel my flights or hotel reservations at this point, so will I at least be able to pickup our badges and DC stuff to take back to attend virtually??

If you will be "fully vaccinated" (example definition: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019...vaccinated.htm) after DEF CON starts, but before it ends, and the vaccination check for wristband and badge sales/pickup are still open, then on that day you meet those requirements, I don't see why you couldn't.
