    Hi,

I wonder when and where you will be available to register for workshops. Also, will it cost anything?

I do not think details on when the sign-up for workshops will take place has been made public. At this point, I am still getting additions or changes to include to the workshop section of the forums for DEF CON 30: ( I received word from the lead running workshops to add 2 more today and edit an existing workshop thread bio. )

I saw it says friday and saturday in the threads for the workshops, which dates are these?

Well, since Defcon has only one Friday and one Saturday, that would make those the 12th and 13th.

I was assigned ToDo to add links for workshops to each workshop post/thread.
Each workshop post/thread should have a schedule included, and further date details in the eventbrite link for each workshop.

              Assuming this is still accurate:

That would mean you have less than 20 hours as of when I am replying before access to sign-up online with workshops starts.
In the past, most slots in workshops were gone in less than 1 hour.

Sometimes people would sign up for more than one workshop, and not realize one or more conflicts with other things happening at that time, then they would report on the forums they have a spot for a workshop they can't use, which they are willing to trade for another slot in a different workshop, or give away for free.

If transfer of slots will be possible, you are welcome to use the forums to arrange for trades or give away extra slots you can't use. Ideally, this would happen in a single thread for everyone to offer what they can't use for others to choose from. It is okay to announce what you have in public, and then move exchange of information to "Forum Direct Messages" and once transaction is complete, let everyone know in the thread that it is no longer available. We have no support on the forums for exchanging money, or holding money and items in escrow. People looking to trade/acquire slots from others do so at your own risk. Please do not spam.

              Thanks!

I'm unable to attend onsite this year.

                Which workshops will be streamed?

What I have read from past workshops is they are in-person only.
Last year, DEFC CON 29, media server has documents, but no videos: https://media.defcon.org/DEF%20CON%2...9%20workshops/
                  Year before was Safe mode.
Year before was DEF CON 27, media server has documents and an image for an OS/VM, but I don't see videos: https://media.defcon.org/DEF%20CON%2...7%20workshops/

It looks like there have not been videos or streaming for DEF CON Workshops.

There have been cases where villages ran village workshops, and I have seen references to video of village workshops, but not of DEF CON Workshops..

                Hi!

Anyone want to trade (although no idea how that works)? I got Sam Bowne - Securing Web Apps but i want Hardik Shah - Finding Security Vulnerabilities Through Fuzzing.

                Thanks!

Workshop registration will open up today, July 5th at Noon PDT. You can browse the list of Workshops on the forums at https://forum.defcon.org/node/239773 The Eventbrite resistration link should not be included in the description.
                        WORKSHOP NOTE
In order to decrease the number of no-shows, DEF CON Workshops will be instituting a $25 registration fee to attendees. Tickets are available on a first come, first served basis. Additional costs include possible low-fee for material costs, if applicable, and will be collected by the instructor at the time of the workshop.

There will be a limited number of students on standby lists for each class, should a registration cancel.

There will be NO onsite registration, period. Anyone on standby will be notified they are on standby before the conference. There will be NO onsite standby line or list to sign up for. Everything will be arranged pre-con.

Students will be limited to purchasing 2 tickets per class.
                        Highlighting the important part:

People looking for standby/waitlist stuff, so for each questions in each workshop thread, I can refer them to here:

As I understand it, this is how is was supposed to work:
Events went on sale on July 5, at the same time.
People go their tickets for a seat.
When all available seats were sold, if "waitlist" services were enabled for each event, then first-come-first-served, people could join the waitlist for that event until those slots ran out. Then, if anyone decided they could not attend the event, and returned their slot, the now vacant slot could be assigned to someone on the wait list, where eventbrite would send them a notice, and if they chose to take the seat "within the given limited time" then they could pick up that slot. If they ignored the email and the time expired, or they found a way to tell the service, they were no longer interested, then the empty slot could move to the next person on the waitlist.

                          When I visit:

Now on to some things to keep in mind while you look at which workshop(s) to register for:
Workshop Registration will be handled online. Announcement will be made as we get ready to open reg the day before.

You can register for as many classes as you can attend in one day. ( No two classes at the same time. If you have mastered occupying two spaces at the same time, there are some physics academics who would be pleased to meet you among others)
                          Notice the bold-highlighting.

In this case, "waitlist" and "standby" I would expect to be the same thing.

I do not run workshops. I do not know if waitlist services were enabled for any or all of these workshops. It is possible if waitlists were NOT enabled at time of purchase, or maybe they were enabled for some, but not for others. If not enabled for all at the time of selection, maybe the workshop organizers might enable waitlist at some future date and time, and maybe it would be announced.

Please consider following the defcon twitter account ( https://www.twitter.com/defcon ) and by using ReCon skills, seeing:
