Badge that acts as a USB Host

Has anyone hacked the DC29 badge to act as a USB host, or know of another badge that can do this?

I just want to send a few 16 and 31 byte bulk transfer packets to a mass storage device for my presentations. I could even hardcode the packets. The DC29 badge supports USB host, but as yet I can't make heads nor tails of how to do that....

I tried for weeks, contacted the guy who made it, contacted the company that makes the compiler. It's possible, they have "examples." And it only took a week to get their basic example to compile, spent another 2 weeks beating my head against the wall trying to make it actually work. Then tried other compilers and libraries, then gave up.

Maybe it will be easier with the new badge :/

If I understand what you want to do, there are some of those very cheap Waveshare RP 2040s which have a USB port and can send/receive data and store in a somewhat limited filesystem. Last I bought one it was like $4 and change.
