On Thursday, 23 March at 10:00 AM EDT, Shou Zi Chew, the CEO of Tik Tok, will testify before the House Committee on Energy and Commerce. The hearing is titled "TikTok: How Congress Can Safeguard American Data Privacy and Protect Children from Online Harms.” The hearing can be streamed from the Committee's website. No additional details have been released yet, including any witness testimony, but you can check back for additional information here as Thursday approaches. This should be an interesting hearing with a mix of political statements and interesting questions about data privacy.

Just a reminder-- if you're interested in digital privacy or social media trust and safety issues you can check out the Tik Tok CEO's Congressional testimony live on the Energy and Commerce Committee's website or via CSPAN here. CEO Shew Chou's written testimony is now live on the Committee's website as well in case you are looking for some reading material or aren't able to watch the video of the hearing.

In case you missed it there were actually 4 hearings on Capitol Hill last Thursday, not just the House hearing with the CEO of Tik Tok. The other hearings looked at CISA oversight, energy infrastructure, and the new National Cyber Strategy. The Washington Post has a good summary of all of the cyber action--and you can also go to any of the Committee websites to watch recordings if you want to dive in for more info.
