Additionally, some events appeared to have their ticketing done slightly differently and again made it harder for the user to discern what was actually available.
I haven't done my research on how non-entertainment venue things may work, but whenever I buy concert tickets, I can generally see things such as: how many people are waiting ahead of me, how many people are currently trying to check out, and how many tickets are left. If I could see that I am the 75th person trying to snag 35 tickets and there are 12 unclaimed, that would be a much better user experience than not even knowing if the tickets are live.
DEF CON continues to improve because people like you provide constructive criticism on what does not work and provides suggestions on how to make things work better.
    Thanks for your feedback!

A workshop organizer has participated in this thread; you have a very good chance they will read this.

To try to summarize features you find missing/problematic:
    (1) No "count-down timer" to indicate when access to get spots could start: please add one
    (2) Language does not indicate that "other people have already selected all spots available and are completing the process to finish; if any of these people fail to finish, then their unclaimed spots will return to a pool for anyone to grab" or something like that?
    (3) You would like details at "purchase" (not really a purchase: "check-out?" "confirmation?") time to indicate how many seats have been taken, how many were available and are being processed, and how many people are also trying to get the same ticket?

[From the past, I recall that eventbrite has support for something like a "waiting list" such that if anyone decided they don't want a ticket they acquired, that they can return it to eventbrite and the next person in the "waiting list" can get a chance to get it within a certain time of being notified, then if no follow-up, move to the next person on the "waiting list". However, that is up to the creator of an eventbrite ticket event creator, and may not work well as a flow for DEF CON Workshops. It is possible it has been tried, and led to more problems.]

If you do find other services that provide support for "free events" which meets the features you provide, would you please propose those services?

    Thanks!

Again, I do not work in the workshops department, but do try to support their efforts in getting workshop information out to users and letting users provide feedback.

It looks like some of the Eventbrite links are 404ing, for example:

https://kamdjou_dc32.eventbrite.com/ > full URL redirect > https://www.eventbrite.com/e/josh-ka...=oddtdtcreator Click image for larger version

Any idea how we can fix these pages ahead of the registration window?

Is registration on Eventbrite still set to begin this July 7 at 12pm PT?
All good now. Not all the public facing events were published but we wanted to get the info out there.

    thanks for the heads up!

Looking at some of those events, the links are indicating DC32, so I would say you're correct!

It is not clear if these are from this year (2024 for DEF CON 32) but if you check out https://info.defcon.org/events/ and then choose the top-right settings, you can limit display to just workshops and I see a listing of workshops with days and times for Thursday Aug 8 through to Saturday August 10.
    HTH

(Again, I do not run workshops: an organizer for workshops can confirm if this list is indeed for DEF CON 32.)

I know life interferes with things sometimes but we're like 9 days out from registration now are workshops ever going to be posted?

Again: I do not run workshops... I do not control anything workshop related.
I've only been relaying what I have been told by people that work to run/organize Workshops.
    Thanks!
