Im running mac os x and using the basics of the terminal, a unix shell. I was wondering if anyone knows of any interesting tricks in shell, or maybe helpfull resources for learning more about unix. I also had a question about accessing a T1 line at my rop class. there is a router at my class that we have been trying to connect to, i was running windows xp and i went into the command line and use the net and ipconfig commands to find out the router ip and dns entrys, but i still cant connect to the internet on it. any suggestions would be alot of help. but not im pretty new so you might want to make it simple. everyone has to start somewhere. thanks in advance for your help!

I, for one, can never get enough of the command "yes". it's the most interesting thing ever.
well, for interesting unix crap, maybe you'll want to start with tweaking your shell or install fink and use it to get some interesting apps.

It's made for forcing yes answers to all questions asked by a program which doesn't have a command line option to accomplish the same functionality. For example, if fsck didn't have a -y option, you could accomplish the same functionality with yes | fsckOriginally posted by theMacPhreak
