  • Omar the Cabbie

On the way to Defcon on Saturday, Omar the Cabbie and I had a nice talk. You see, cabbie in vegas know everything.

    Topic: Food
Guano: Where's a good burger joint, preferably close to Alexis Park?
Omar: There's a great place two buildings down -- just walk toward Paradise and you won't miss it. It's across from Hard Rock.

And, Omar was right, and it was good.

    Topic: Feds
G: So have you driven many people to AP this weekend?
O: No. Too many government people.
G: I know what you mean. DC9 was about 1/3 whitehat, 1/3 blackhat, and 1/3 fed inventorying the other two. This year there seems to be more.
O: Walk over to the Hard Rock parking lot some time. Feds don't take taxis. They're all parked over at Hard Rock and they walk across the street.

So I went over -- most of the cars has governement plates/tags.
    Wow, two for two!

    Topic: Future of DC?
G: So what do you think DC will be like in a few years? I'm thinking in 5 years it will all be feds and one hacker.
O: NO! THREE YEARS! THREE YEARS!
(Omar said this while completely turned around and facing me. Doing about 45 and swerving around traffic.)

G: Will it still be at AP?
O: No -- AP is in trouble.
    Omar wouldn't elaborate.

    Thoughts?

Sounds like time for "I Spotted the Hacker" t-shirts.

Can we make "I stalked the fed" shirts? Next year I might just follow a few over. That takes the fun out of the game though, so I dont know.

I dont really know, but from my knowledge the AP has a few timeshare deals to fill the rooms, I dont know how long this will last though.

Vegas is a dangerous spot to be a building. Things get blown up and bulldozed all the time. I can hear it now “I remember when the con was held at the good’oll AP. Those were the days. Now it just sucks.” This coming form the same people bitching today.

I don't suppose we can just rent out the Queen Mary 2, the whole ship, for a Defcon cruise?

Well considering the price of a 5 star hotel, all the food you can eat, it becomes a good deal rather quickly.

But which is the cause and which is the effect?

Defcon left Sans, Sans gets blown up.
Defcon left Sahara, Sahara gets blown up.
Defcon left Aladdin, Aladdin gets blown up.

Sounds like a great hack! ("Watch me blow up a hotel! Let's hold Defcon there!")

Eh, it's pretty "un-gay" during the daytime -- especially since I think they learned the "crowd type" from last year's Con.

I was sad to see that I couldn't get my 6" or 12" of phallic onion rings this year :(

Friday/Saturday nights they're much more noticeably a "gay bar" with videos of men gyrating in speedos in the main floor area -- enough that my waiter worried I'd gotten lost or something, since I looked "out of place" as a single female.

But hey -- why mention it? Their burgers /are/ pretty damned awesome. And for a burger joint, their fruit bowls weren't too shabby either.
                      Don't hurt me daddy!

                        No offense, but you're wrong.

It's not un-gay during the day. All the servers are gay, if you ask if it's a gay restraunt they will tell you yes.
They do not change for defcon, as it is not even a blib on their radar screen.

As Octalpussy can attest to, Con goers have gotten up and left the establishment when they found out it was a gay club.

And the big screen in the middle of the main room say's exactly what type of establishment it is.

Perhaps you can get me on many things, but saying a restraunt isn't gay, when it is a blatantly homosexually run and catered to place, isn't one of them.
