I got a lan party box, it is the litteral deffinition of the flashy box, I did it mainly to show off at some of the lan partys, but it serves its perpose when I want some high power graphics, and yes, my box runs gentoo, and you should see the compiles on it. Here is a pic of it, with the dual monitors hooked up to it.

I likes the rack mount HVAC unit on top, you should put streamers on it.

I don't get case modding either, but it definatly serves a huge purpose at a LAN party. Lets face it guys, when that guy with a computer that can drive itself into the house on a twin turbo 350 horsepower engine and play Unreal at 300mph walks in, everyone cowers in fear...or something like that.
        The dude abides.

I'm not a gamer, but I love case modding. I really want to put a fish tank or a coffee pot into my box.

As for the Ram, I've never understood the whole case modding thing. I don't need any lights to tell me if my RAM is fried.

As long as it works I don't care what it looks like. Which might explain why I've had systems built into cardboard boxes on occasion.

Vid Conf: The girls don't want to actually SEE the other side. One way streaming is working just fine. Thus, it's as far as it's going to go.

Case modding: It's art. High tech geek art. Some peopel are hapy with plain beige case. Other people Want to have what looks like a futuristic Oni-Sendai 3205-B cyber deck.

Me? I just want my dermatrodes and an interface jack.

I'm still considering making my next rig submersable using dyalectric oils. No heat sinks or fans needed.

Sealed acrylic case, and just drop everything into the oil.

              Unfortunatly, no fish.

If it wern't for gamers demanding mor epower, tehbusiness industry would hv been perfectly happy to have the 486DX2/66 be teh flagship processor for at least 5 years.

Porn, god bless it, gives us bandwdth

Besides, the ram would look dope as hell with a clear side panel, running the liquid cooling clear tubing with with green UV dye added.

I was happy last week to order a nice stick of DDR 3200 (400MHz fsb) with copper heat sinks. 1 GIG. Single stick.

                  I had big boner.

So I gave in to case mod fever and decided to hurt an Indy, possibly the most pointless machine to try to case mod.

I'll get the photos of the latest round of mods up later tonight.

There's a difference between mods for style, and just ugly

I'm not one for dasblinkenlights, but Having a subtle glow coming from an indy is pretty cool. Good job.

You sir, are WRONG! Every self-respetting case modder and ricer owner knows that the color of speed is YELLOW, not PURPLE. The purple wire ties are just a conceession to Martha Stewart color correctness and does not speed electrons along to give you the added megahurtz! How do I know this? I watched Too Fast Too Furious repeatedly.

i remember seeing photos on slashdot of some very expensive Sun servers that some moron had "casemodded".

Shit, if I was an IT director and I came in and found some idiot had been sticking neon tubing on one of our multimillion dollar sun racks, there'd certainly be yet another nerd collecting unemployment pretty quickly.

OK, I'm behind schedule. Sue me. Here's round two of the Indy casemods. Probably not as exciting as round one, but blue nonetheless.

And because I'm lazy, I'm going to consolidate several replies into this thread :)

Thanks :) I do wonder if the BeBox can be considered the first true casemod, though, even if the blinkenlights were factory-standard.

My purple cable ties may not have the megahertz of the yellow ones, but I plan to make up for it with ground effects and spoilers. Three-tier spoilers, even.

Fuck that. Beat the holy living crap out of him, *then* let him grab a place in the bread line. People like that deserve a good ass-kicking.
