    TMYK...
The More You Know...I was just sitting down to watch Law and Order: Criminal Intent (my wife is taping Alias so we can watch it together) and they are doing one of those ignorant ass TMYK PSA's. It's Martin Sheen saying:

"You make appointments with your doctor, your lawyer...how about your kids? They'll listen."

EXCUSE ME?!? Is Charlie mother fucking Sheen's dad really trying to give me advice on being a parent. Suck my dick. Who's next? Robert Downey Sr? Christian Slater's dad?

Myabe Heidi Fleiss' mom can do a quick PSA on keeping your kids on the straight and narrow.

I have a great idea Hollywood pukes....I won't tell you how to act, you don't tell me how to parent.

    Stupid fuckers.

I always felt the Nike "Just Do It" com's had more message/meanning then the NBC PSA's. Huh, maybe not just me.

Remember when Pee-Wee got busted for jacking off in the porno theater? Part of his public service afterwords was to Make an Anti-Drug PSA for that stupid Drug-Free America campaign. "Hey kids, I just got busted for touching myself. Don't do drugs!"
        The dude abides.

Amen Chris. For some odd reason these *parents* think that because they're in the public eye (due to their dubious acting talents) that they are a valid source of information on everything from politics to parenting to solving the worlds ills. They should STFU and keep to doing the one thing they can do, ACT (and most of the time, nothing else).

It's like Pearl Jam and their political statements. They have the freedom to state their opinions like everyone else, but when people pay them to play music, they aren't necessarily paying to listen to the soapbox diatribes.

OK! This is the point of the program where I flip out cussing at you and rambling unintelligable curses for such a stupid, commercialistic, shallow look at music. I agree with Chris about actors, because their entire existance is to play parts that they ARE NOT (well, if they're any good at least). No one gives a fuck about what they think, they play the part, get paid and need to go home.

Music is a totally different thing man.... Thats like whining about hearing an anti-US Policy rant at a RATM show.. WTF man? Pearl Jam has always been a very political band; it has pervaded their music since Ten. Where have you been? And the whole thing about "we paid to hear the music..", DON'T GET ME STARTED DOWN THAT ROAD!. You paid to experience the band in its entirity live. If you want something else, buy a CD or keep listening to what the radio feeds ya. I compare that shallowness to the comments "we paid to see the talks at defcon here and I want a refund because I can't get into the tent." NO, you paid to attend the conference and all that it is.

sigh.. sigh.. sigh..... /me tries to breathe a little more
if it gets me nowhere, I'll go there proud; and I'm gonna go there free.

I agree with converge. Freaking look at what 90% of music is! It is someone in some way or form standing on a soapbox and screaming about something. While the political statements can occasionally take away from the music, Most of the time thats where the real expressionism of the music is! I don't freaking want to listen to meanlingless crap like Good Charlotte and Saliva all the time. or ever actually...

                        Best combination ever:

Magic Johnson about aids, followed up with Nike Just Do IT, follow up by a suicide prevention commercial.

It's like one of my favorite quotes on the pro/anti gun thing:

"Carlton Heston because he is an actor, is not a credible source about guns, just like Micheal Douglas who is an actor, is a credible source to talk about human rights."

Actors are a good valid source to quote and rally behind as long as they re voicing what you stand for. If they have an opposing view they are stupid meat puppets who are stupid high school drop outs.

Thus, I leave you with this:

Thus, I leave you with this:
Actors, musicians, artists, etc have as much right as any other American to speak their minds...what I have a problem with is an actor who doesn't know jack shit telling me how to do my job as a parent.

There are some celebrities who actually do take an informed stand on an issue, and just like any activist who actually KNOWS what they are talking about, I don't have a problem with it. This particular commercial torked me off because of

                            a) the fact that they attempt to simplify everything, as if talking to your kids for 15 minutes a day will somehow magically make them do the right thing. I have news for these morons...I ate dinner with my parents every day until I moved out of the house. They told me of the dangers of smoking and drinking regularly...any of you who have met me know how those worked out. The PSA's that say "talk to your kids about smoking, they'll listen" are the most ignorant 30 seconds of brain drain on TV outside of Regis and Kelly.

                            b) the fact that the father of one of the most notirious whore mongering, alcoholic, drug addicts in recent Hollywood history, has the nerve to imply that he not only is a good parent, but is qualified to tell ME how to be a good parent. This jack ass lives in such a world of make believe he probably thinks he IS the President because he gets to go to a simulated oval office and have his ass kissed daily by syncophants and hangers on with less of a brain than he has.
