  • Events you'd like to see at next year's DC

Time for a thread that might actually get some posts....

What events would you crazy monkeys like to see, do, run, at defcon?

you know, crazy things like the scavenger hunt....or the wifi stuff or whatnot....

maybe we should do a forum run event for the con....

hrm, what I want to see....other then nekkid women.....

I always like to see more crap in the vendor area, so that is a must....something that happened at 11 that I really liked was the DJs out by the pools, that rocked. I would like to see better food, that isnt much of an event tho.

I would almost have to go out and say a drinking contest,
but that would probably lead to hospitalization.

and of course we'd have to do that off AP grounds.

          Only half kidding here...

Combine this question w/ the "Old People" thread. Have a coding contest with old-school hardware. You get points for the code, but also for style points for doing it in BASIC on a Sinclair ZX80, or Turbo Pascal on a DEC Rainbow.

                1) Spot the Asshat: where we spot out the lucky wankers whom have made it into the moron club, then we use a paintball gun to hunt them down like deer.

                2) A big-ass cookout, pending we can do that w/o the fire chief having a hard-on for us again. Grills, beer, and dead cow.

                3) The midget toss.. I believe that was orginally Blackwave's idea.

Or, we can appeal to HighWizard, as well as keep the fire marshal out, by having a big-ass cockout. The firemarshal will never be able to get into that event, no matter how hard he tries (no pun intended).

I was talking to Noid awhile back about a defcon BBQ, we all know how much that would rock, someone just fire up the grill by one of the pools, maybe charge a little from some good wholesome burgers/hotdogs/other random meats. I know I would have my self down at the bbq pigging out....it would own.....

Like I said earlier this year, s long as folks supply me with beer and stuff to cook, I will be slave to the grill for a bit!

Weenies, you have to be hardcore to do hardware.

                        Z80 assembler
                        6502 assembler

I think an _unofficial_ cookout would bring a whole lot of interest... probably not practiical or feasible to do it on AP grounds though. ... maybe a nearby parking lot could be obtained to, say, attract a larger crowd of folk towards a vegas attraction, win for the cookers, win for the venue.

Some of the oldschool events need to come back to compliment the newer ones, imo... TCPIP drinking game for one
if it gets me nowhere, I'll go there proud; and I'm gonna go there free.

TCP/IP is coming back if I remember DT's closing speech correctly (I agree, it needs to come back)

The cookoff might be a better idea on the wednsday or tuesday beforehand (when many of us arrive). trying it on any of the con days is just asking to get swarmed.

True, it would be better to do the cookout the night before or so..

.. just thought of another event I would like to see.. THE SOCIAL ENGINEERING CONTEST! I have heard rumors that it will be back, any input Siviak? ;)
