After Decfon 10 I asked about AP-Caching, where folks can take personal property and hide it in the hotel, maybe false ceilings, and see if it is there for Defcon 11.

There are a lot of good ideas popping up here, I hope the brainstorming continues.

geocaching could be fun, considering most wardrivers already have purchased GPS units, as for the finding of clues, that would all come down to the mapping software used and quality of GPS unit.

Id think that most people have heard something about it.. You use a GPS to locate cache points where clues or items are hidden, each location points to another location, sometimes 2 or 3 clues are needed to find the final location.

At the final location is a ticket, coupon, whatever a person can return with.

One such site is www.geocaching.com, I searched in my own city and found there were over 100's of locations listed, some in public parks, wooded areas ect..

I just looked at Vegas, (638) caches listed.
Clues could be a picture tacked up with a DC logo on it, a paper tacked to a tree, a spay painted rock on the ground (paper underneath it), or even a person working somewhere that has a clue.

Just an idea.. something new..

in sticking with the tech theme of con, what about a case mod contest?

I think it was Defcon 3 there was a Red Box building contest. I built a Marlboro Red Box but I didn't get to enter it because my friend had been playing with it and killed the batteries. It had to play quarter tones to qualify for entry and I had dead batteries.

Maybe we can do something similar to that. Homebrew Wifi Hotspot locators or something of that nature. More USB powered appliances. :) USB Coffee Maker. :P
