While I do, for whatever reason, have a certain degree of respect for Eminem, mainly his advocacy of free speech in the face of overly anal protesters (i.e. when Elton John sings a duet with him, perhaps he isn't gay bashing because he hates gays?), I just have to say... Dr. Dre could produce for a stinking pile of poo and it would be popular...

What is wrong with eminem, he is probably the only white rapper with any tallent! I agree that most if not all white rappers are one hit wonders, but when someone has multi platnum album after multi platnum album plus a multi nominated and award winning movie, I wouldn't say he should be killed. But then again that is your opinion, and we are all intitled to our own opinions!

Good song, but I prefer Apoptygma Berzerk's Deep Red for the singsong quality of the chorus.

Anyone who knows these songs is a hard core metalhead.

However, my song, or at least the one that comes to mind right now that ranks in my top 10 is On The Turning Away by Pink Floyd

    On the turning away
    From the pale and downtrodden
    And the words they say
    Which we won't understand
    "Don't accept that what's happening
Is just a case of others' suffering
Or you'll find that you're joining in
    The turning away"

    It's a sin that somehow
    Light is changing to shadow
    And casting it's shroud
    Over all we have known
Unaware how the ranks have grown
Driven on by a heart of stone
We could find that we're all alone
In the dream of the proud

On the wings of the night
    As the daytime is stirring
    Where the speechless unite
    In a silent accord
Using words you will find are strange
And mesmerized as they light the flame
Feel the new wind of change
On the wings of the night

    No more turning away
From the weak and the weary
    No more turning away
    From the coldness inside
Just a world that we all must share
It's not enough just to stand and stare
Is it only a dream that there'll be
    No more turning away?

    Schaft - Cold Light

in your cold light I make this gun my lawful wife
in your cold light I come alive with a stanley knife
in your cold light I can see right through my life
    take me my maker
got the noose got the neck
if only I could break her hate her save her
if only I could break her hate her save her
    from you

in your cold light I walk into tinseltown
in your cold light these sheets are lit with broken hearts
in your cold light I will soon surrender
    here comes success
with your fear with your fist and a flick of the wrist

here comes a candle to light you to bed
here comes a chopper to chop off your head
here comes a candle to light you to bed
here comes a chopper to chop
    chop
    chop off your head

    I'm coming on success
with your fear with your fist and a flick of the wrist
    SURRENDER! SURRENDER! SURRENDER! SURRENDER!
    SURRENDER! SURRENDER! SURRENDER!
    SURRENDER!

I agree too. Just because a song has to do with rape or stalking dosent mean that that is what it implies. I remember in grade school we did song assosiation, where we basicly disected a song and wrote what we felt the song meant( the 60's was a good era for this, or atleast that is what we mainly focused on.). Look beyond the lyrics or deeper into them.

Well, here's one of my favourites, Therapy?'s Diane. Not really much better. Does it describe me, though? Well, in that I've never raped and killed anyone, no. Does it describe me? Maybe, in that I'm a person who confronts Bad Things head-on.

Hell, if were were going for plain old descriptions I'd have to go with B-Movie's Nowhere Girl - partly for the way it sounds, partly for the lyrics, and partly because people I've known for even only very short periods of time tend to tell me they tend to associate that song with me.

Lyrics aren't the only reason why you associate a song with yourself. There's an emotional response that an involving piece of music imparts that goes way, way beyond just the words alone. If that weren't true, I could never like music such as Pachelbel's Canon, Bach's Tocatta and Fugue, or Depeche Mode's Nothing to Fear. The same applies to Diane.

Shit, one of the most vivid memories of any piece of music I have is Metallica's Nothing Else Matters played on a pipe organ as a processional hymn when I was in school.

    "Aqualung"

Sitting on a park bench --
eyeing ittle girls with bad intent.
Snot running down his nose --
    greasy fingers smearing shabby clothes.
Drying in the cold sun --
Watching as the frilly panties run.
Feeling like a dead duck --
spitting out pieces of his broken luck.

    Sun streaking cold --
    an old man wandering lonely.
    Taking time
    the only way he knows.
    Leg hurting bad,
as he bends to pick a dog-end --
he goes down to the bog
    and warms his feet.

    Feeling alone --
    the army's up the rode
    salvation a la mode and
    a cup of tea.
    Aqualung my friend --
    don't start away uneasy
you poor old sod, you see, it's only me.
    Do you still remember
    December's foggy freeze --
    when the ice that

    that describes u???
clings on to your beard is
    screaming agony.
And you snatch your rattling last breaths
    with deep-sea-diver sounds,
    and the flowers bloom like
    madness in the spring.

    that describes you?

It is old, but due to control issues I still have not resolved, it seems to still be true:

God money, I'll do anything for you
God money, just tell me what you want me to
God money, nail me up against the wall
God money, don't want everything, he wants it all
    No, you can't take it
    No, you can't take it
No, you can't take that away from me
    No, you can't take it
    No, you can't take it
No, you can't take that away from me
    Head like a hole
    Black as your soul
I'd rather die than give you control
    Head like a hole
    Black as your soul
I'd rather die than give you control
    ....

But that is the point isn't it? Security is about not giving up control.

    Easy enough...

    Pantera Walk

Can’t you see I’m easily bothered by persistence
One step from lashing out at you...
You want in to get under my skin
    And call yourself a friend
I’ve got more friends like you
    What do I do?

(pre) is there no standard anymore?
What it takes, who I am, where I’ve been
    Belong
You can’t be something you’re not
    Be yourself, by yourself
    Stay away from me
    A lesson learned in life
Known from the dawn of time

    (chorus) respect, walk

Run your mouth when I’m not around
    It’s easy to achieve
You cry to weak friends that sympathize
Can you hear the violins playing you song?
Those same friends tell me your every word

    (pre)

    (chorus)

    Are you talking to me?
    No way punk
