People are waking up and realizing that an open system is better than a closed one.
Well, small groups of people are, but I would wager that they aren't realizing the open-source advantage. Most of these companies are just realizing that Linux is so much cheaper than those ridiculously expensive liscenses for Windows.
In the future Windows will still be dominant, but Microsoft will have crushed Apple by that time, so Windows will finally be somewhat stable.
Cheap internal implants. Computers will become nomore.
Tiny retina nodes will pick up signals from a chip in the brain using the synaptic nerve as a transmisson medium. All minds will be linked to the net using advanced nanotech satcom systems.
I have seen it in visions.
Everyone will be all knowing, we will be able to undstand each other, individual views, beliefs, etc... because each human will have the same knowledge.
Peace will truly be realized and everyone will work towards universal domination.
I predict that within 100 years, computers will be twice as powerful, 10,000 times larger, and so expensive that only the five richest kings of Europe will own them.
Where do you see computers headed in the next 20 years?
I don't just mean technology wise I mean where will the software markets go. I see Windows Longhorn as being a big dud, and I see more governments everywhere turning to open source. China just bought 200 million GNU/Linux systems from Sun. Austin, TX is moving completely to OpenOffice.org! I think it's the beginning of the end for Microsoft. People are waking up and realizing that an open system is better than a closed one.
As far as technology it will be quantum processors and holographic or DNA storage
