Pink Floyd: Dark Side of the Moon

I hope that's not the 30th Anniversery Edition. Worst Remaster Ever! Alan Parsons *volunteered* to work on it and they rejected him... to give you an idea of how much of a clue the people involved with that project had.

Nothing can beat an Original Master Copy on vinyl...

Its on CD but its the original, plus I got the DVD too. I think I asked for "The Wall" and the "The Wall DVD" but my mom got confused, oh well now I can watch "The Dark Side of Oz"

I have in the past owned the vinyl, MFSL vinyl, and Capitol cassette versions.

I currently have the first press Capitol CD (not the original Harvest), MFSL UltraDisc I and UltraDisc II, and the 30th Anniversary SACD hybrid. I don't have an SACD player so I don't know what the SACD version sounds like, but the remastered CD version on that disc is ok. Of all of the versions I have had, past and present, the UltraDisc I&II's sound the best in my opinion. I can't actually discern any difference between the UD I and II and think the only difference is where it was pressed (UltraDisc I in Japan, II in the US).

My only qualm with the MFSL versions is the volume. You have to really crank it to get some of the "quieter" moments on the CD. My MFSL vinyl was purchased at a used record store in 1989 and wasn't in the greatest shape, so that could account for why I think it wasn't as good as the CDs.

As for the DVD...it is extrememly interesting if you dig the CD. I bought it pretty soon after it came out and have watched it several times.

If you do get The Wall in the future...I would suggest saving up and getting he MFSL CD. It is very pricey and pretty much your only shot at getting it is ebay(http://search.ebay.com/search/search...loyd+wall+mfsl) but it is hands down the best version of The Wall available. The Wall DVD is excellent as well.

Cool thanks Chris. I havent watched the DSOTM DVD yet, but it looks pretty good. I'am going to see a Pink Floyd Laser Show at the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry(OMSI) tonight. It is supposed to be amazing.

I am sad to see the way music is going these days, I love older...well not that old type of music, before this pop boom..people like bob marley and pink floyd....now it is all just over hyped pop and hiphop, starting to really bug me....oh well, god damn generation x! Now all of this rereleasing of old albums and making best hits things is starting to get at me, you can only reanimate something so much.

Tool, Nine Inch Nails, Outkast... I'd say if they can make popular songs and have a spark of originality, they're gonna be around for a while. Unfortunately most bands can't.

Dude...please tell me you are joking! The Black Album should be renamed The Suck Album. Kill 'EM All, Ride the Lightning, Master of Puppets, and Justice are the only Metallica studio albums that matter. Everything post Justice is shit.

St. Anger went double platinum, that is popular by today's standards, and they will be listened to in 20 years. Even the shitty stuff like the Loads and St. Anger.

Oh no way, I dont think Outkast will go down as a great band. Their songs are catchy, kinda like an 80's pop band (Dio, Asia, etc.), but I dont think they will be around for years and years to come. Nine Inch Nails is a possiblity but they havent dont much recently(as far as now, please correct me if I'am wrong). Also they dont have that mainstream apeall that is needed for bands to last. NIN has darker edge to their music, so does Metallica but it is not so dark or "hard rock" that it doesnt a attract a wide variety of fans. Tool is one of my favorite bands and I would love to see them last but as with NIN I'am skeptical. In the long wrong I dont think a any band up today, in my opinion, has a produced an album as influential as "The Wall."

"Bleed Through", the new album is due in a few months. Trent Reznor (there is no "they" in the case of NIN) releases an album about once every 5 years with EPs, remixes, touring and soundtrack work done in between.

Also they dont have that mainstream apeall that is needed for bands to last.

Nine Inch Nails has been continuously popular with exposure on MTV since Pretty Hate Machine back in 1990. Every time a new single is released it always gets airplay, often making it into the TRL countdown. This is pretty amazing since NIN is totally not a Britney Spears type band and MTV allots very few hours to actually showing videos. Way back when The Downward Spiral was released, I couldn't listen to popular radio stations without hearing "Closer" all the time.

I think that Rage Against The Machine will be a band that will be listened to years from now. They have such a unique sound and lyrics that provoke. Tom Morello has made some amazing sounds come out of his amp, and their sound as a whole is unlike anything else I have ever heard. My two cents.
