DC614 Columbus OH

I'm in.

I'm willing to show or help run the to the meetings and I'm sure I could get a friend or two to go with. I don't know everything and I'm just starting at DeVry on July 17th but, I do have a pretty good understanding of how to secure a freebsd box and other things along this line, WiFi, Networking windows, etc. I think that the problem with the columbus group is that it's not very well known. We need someway to get the group known, be it handouts or a booth at a computer show or something along that lines. Just my $0.02 and let me know when we set-up the next meeting. Thanks, JAysin

There has been much interest voiced here about a dc614 group, and buddha-22 put a lot of effort into getting things going, but nobody ever showed up for the meetings (there were three in all). I'll be more than happy to attend (and continue to host the web site) if people will actually show up.

DC614 meeting...

Does anybody have any idea on what to do for flyers? I'm the least artistic person in the world so any ideas would be appreciated. I know where all to post them at, I just want something that will grab people's attention when they see it.

I'm a full time student and I work part time mon-fri in the evenings so I'll do what I can through the week, but most will be done on the weekends when I'm free. I got a half ass website on anglefire but it sucks. My main purpose for that site was just to get something online as soon as possible. I don't know much about making websites, but I do know a few that do, so I'll have to ask around. I hate anglefire because of the freakin adds but it's just a temp thing for now hopefully. I have to go work (UPS) now, but I'll work on some of this tonight when I get home.

It's good that you are all discussing it, but now is the time for one (or two) of you to be committed and take the initiative to contact Russ and start it going.

You don't have to be the most knowlegable person in Columbus to run the group. I'm sure you have some to teach and much to learn, like nearly everyone else.

I say you should go for it. You set up the meeting times and place and that's basically all there is to it. If you don't know enough to develop your own group webpage, I'm sure someone else will volunteer.

Although I'm only a student from Devry and I don't have that much knowledge of security, technology, and whatever compared to many.

This is bordering on embarrassing for Columbus--quite a few people interested, but nobody wants to coordinate. If you're serious about getting dc614 off the ground, I'll be happy to join in and help.

Starting new group???

Does anyone know anything about the Defcon Group in Columbus, Ohio?

This was posted on the DCG Mailing List and the Gentleman emailed me. So I thought I would post here in hopes that someone knows something about it.
