Atkins is a fad diet. I cant say Ive tried it personally, but Ive had relatives that have become ill from following it.

I went from 268 to 205, tough to stay low afterwards.
Pezz was correct when he said you need to keep on with it, and not stop once you lose the weight. The sad thing: Atkins is a fad diet. You lose weight so fast that your body cannot adapt to the change, and thats why you gain it back just as quickly.

You see, because you are changing your diet for a long period of time, you move through several different levels of lifestyle eating. In the beginning, it is mainly meats, and veggies. Then as you move through the stages you add more veggies, fruits, nuts, grains, etc...
But who honestly wants to eat large amounts of fruit and nuts for the rest of their life?

Meh. Just be healthy and satisfied with how you are. Society is a bit too focused on weight for reasons other than health issues. I figure the fact that Atkins died, at a reasonably young age, would be warning enough to anyone following him.

I have seen many fad diets come and go. There is only one truely senseable diet.
1.) Get plenty of fresh air and sunshine.
2.) Eat resonable amounts of food.
3.) Cut back on the "junk" food and between meal snacks.
4.) Take in only the amount of calories you burn each day.
5.) Get off your dead ass and get some exercise. You can watch all the exercise videos in the world but it won't do one bit of good if you are sitting on the couch with a Coke in one hand and a bag of chips in the other while you watch them. If you want to lose weight you can do it, but you have to want it. Go out for a walk. Lift some weights. Learn to dance. It doesn't matter what form of exercise you choose as long as you enjoy it and it is giving you a work out. This is the age of instant gratification, everyone is looking for the magic pill that makes them feel better instantly, cures their headache immediately, regrows their hair, or gets the fat off their ass without work. Sometimes you got to work for what you want.

Or learn to Dance Dance. Anyone who thinks DDR isn't a good work out probably can't beat Healing Vision on heavy...

Yep. Couldn't've said it better myself. I've lost 17 lbs. since December 1st by following 1) through 5) above, and have about 20 to go. One thing I will add to that list: cut back on booze (yeah, yeah, I know), especially beer. Getting outside and exercising is also a key factor. Just spent an hour on your ass after work on IRC? Take a walk instead.

There's one exception to that, though :)

That's one exception, that needs to be left in the dark.

Crystal meth will take that weight right off.

I know some people who've had great success with a weigh loss programme called cocaine

DDR beats all other games with flying colors. Damn that level, too many long spent hours wasted.
