Non/Gambling Hotels?

I'm not from Vegas, and I've spent very little time in NV. I noticed "The Alexis Park is a non gambling hotel, so people 18 years and older can get a room there". Since the AP is full up, what does that mean for reservations at the other hotels? Are the others 21+ only? Will I be sleeping in my car?

No. I was able to get a hotel room at the Key Largo when I was 17 without a problem. I also know (from personal experience) that the better, and just-as-cheap, Terrible's Hotel and Casino has no problem with "underage" guests. I would assume this trend holds true for the rest of Vegas.

Theres an Embassy Suites down the street. Stayed there one year, it was a bit of a walk (only a few blocks, but turn up the heat to 110 and see), but managable. The St. Tropez next door to the AP is also a non-gaming hotel. As far as being underage goes, I think you have to be at least 18 to get a room anywhere in NV, and 21 to stay at gaming hotels. Not saying that 17 and younger havent gotten rooms before in Vegas (I have, so has Voltage Spike, apparently), but dont put your eggs in one basket and count on it.

Twinvega and I stayed at the Embassy suites (the fed hotel) durring defcon10 it was nice and comfy, and if you dig being able to sleep without hearing random scary sounds, it will work out, most however have a policy of if your not 21+ to get a room you have to be at least 18.

Prepaid credit cards, online booking. No age verification required, though you may get asked for ID at check-in. Option two is to book it under a 'parent's' name, with the added instructuons that the room is for your kid who will be checking in by himself. This isn't a guaranteed way of doing it either, though.

Embassy Suites on Swenson has rooms for $159/night now. No telling how long they'll last (they were booked a few days ago).

Yeah it's gonna be hot but cut through Hard Rock and you'll be ok. Moved my sorry ass from Paradise Road to this one just because it's closer.

Thing is, unless you want to pay a huge cash deposit upfront (its usualy something horrible), the hotel is going to want a credit card at the time of check-in. I have yet to go to a hotel that hasnt asked. I've even decided to be a prick about it a few times and say 'charge the CC that you have on file if I break anything' and they get insistant. The only alternative they ever offer is to have you give them like 400 in cash to hold as a deposit. But this point is probably moot, arent they giving credit cards to 10 year olds now? Get 'em started young.

Citibank gave me a card with a $1600 credit limit when I was 15. I didn't even ask for it, the card just arrived in the mail one day...

PS: I'll look into the Embassy Suites. Their "complimentary cocktails" and "made-to-order breakfasts" are kinda' famous around the workplace. :p

I think this one, like most other Embassy Suites, has a minimum wage non-caucasian making things "to order". Still kicks ass if you want an omlette for breakfast instead of cold pizza, warm beer that may or may not have been pissed in.
