  • non technical spyware question

Hello all, a question about the commerical (and I guess legal) use of spyware.

I have recently purchased two programs; the nero cd burner and the Mp3 pro. When I installed the software for both of these programs, I ran sypbot ...and spybot (which is my favorite program, as it is designed for someone who knows little about computers) found spyware in both of these programs. Now both of my son's tell me this is a common practice with commerical software programs - they bundle this spyware, because... they get paid to do so.
So here is the question. Why isn't this illegal, or at the very least why are these sofware giants not required to label their products with a warning, something like: " This Product Contains Spyware, Consumer's Beware."

    Your thoughts would be appreciated.

I'm in a good mood this morning so I will indulge you.
    Go here:
    http://spybot.safer-networking.de/en/index.html
In that little search box in the upper left hand corner of the screen, type "nero".
    Read the information.
It's always good to visit the site of the product that is telling you that you have spyware before going and posting somewhere.
And incase your wondering, your problem most like has to do with "Usage Tracks".

With that being said I have this final comment:

After 5 minutes with google, I'm now annoyed because you apparently didn't spend 5 minutes with goggle.

    WE ARE NOT CONSUMER REPORTS!

Why would you come to a forum like this and post that question? Does it say somewhere on the main page that we are experts on legal matters? From your time on the forums have you not yet noticed that most questions like this inccur some form of wrath?
Especially when you didn't take the time to "use google" and research the question on your own!
