Thanks from the Queer Consul
I could spend hours thanking people for many things, but instead I decided to just highlight on one or two things that I wish to thank people for... This list is in no-way all inclusive nor in any perticular order.
Part 1:
First I'd like to give thanks to Stitch, not only for putting up with me, but for being my little man, helping out with the Scavenger Hunt so much, and just being there for me when I needed you.
DT and Black Beetle: Thanks for putting on a great show, like you do every year. This year was actually very calm and everything ran well. I hope you continue to do Defcons in the future.
Noid: The way security was run this year definitely reflects positively on your leadership. You did a great job, as did Priest.
Security Goons: You guys handled every issues that I saw come up, with tact and precision. You're all definitely an intergral part in making Defcon run smoothly and it shows more and more each year.
Priest: Thanks for stopping us from drinking the mountain dew can from the roof tent area and having to move to the landing. It was actually a godsent since the distance would have made a big difference and we would have had to suck a lot harder.
Josh: Thanks for spending time in the queer consulate... In my bedroom to be exact. Having you on my bed.. Well, you know ;) . Honestly it was cool to hangout with you, and don't forget your queer consulate card next time.
Chris: Thanks for sitting down and chilling out, and being too cool to stop by the Queer Consulate (Hence forth refered to as the QC unless otherwise stated). You did a really good job with the Vendor area and the wardriving contest.
Grifter: You did a great job with everything you ran. Being my second favorite mormon is not an easy task, but you always come through and shine to keep that coveted position. I'm glad you and your guys don't participate in the Scavenger Hunt... we wouldn't want to have to school you too ;) . And no, I wasn't going to leave without saying good bye.
The Scavenger Hunt judges (A, Manic Velocity, Tierra, ect): thanks for a great challenge this year. I give a special thanks to A for deleting our team on the first day... But seriously, you guys did a great job and put up with a lot of shit and us talking your ears off. Sorry you had to be witness to some of the escapades of myself and my teammates (but you did ask for it).
The Wardriving Organizers (Dara, Converge, AlxRogan, Thorn, C0n): Sorry I didn't compete this year even after signing up. But from what I did get to see and hear of the contest you all did a wonderful job and are to be commended. Running any Defcon event isn't easy and it shows by the success of yours the amount of time and effort you put into it.
To the Lockpick Organizers (719): Thanks for making the contest very enjoyable. I really did enjoy watching it and you can see the amount of time and work you all put into it.
Neural: You did a great job with the TCP/IP Appliance contest. Like any event, a first year is hard and getting people involved is even harder. I hope next year many people will see how interesting the contest is, and work to unseat the current champion. You were also there everytime I walked into the contest area which definitely shows your level of dedication to the contest and the community at large.
Leetest Link Organizers: First off, sorry I scream "we want Hacker Jeopardy back" during the show which made Grifter turn around and say "never gunna happen". You guys put a lot of hard work into it and while there were some issuances that is always to be expect with the first year of any event. Personally I viewed the LL this year as a learning experience, and really don't want to see HJ come back. With the knowledge you have now I think you can move forward and not only rival HJ but surpass it.
AlxRogan: Thanks for coming to hangout in the QC and being the only person I made CD's for to actually come and pick them up.
Kelvin, Tactius, Kallahar: Thanks for building that amazingly cool robot. You may have been the only people participating in the contest, but that just shows how much you care about the community and how much cooler you are then most people. I think most others probably just ph34r'd your leet skills.
Citadel: Thanks for coming into my room and trying to steal the beer without asking.
Tinkerbell (aka DigitalWigle): I hope you enjoyed your first con. Over the weekend I saw you lose some of your arrogance and calm down. My only word of advice to you is don't go up on the roofs again. Not only for yourself but for the sake of everyone else and the con as a whole.
Shalome: Thanks for punching that guy right outside the Queer Consulate infront of jesus and his disciples. It gave us a good laugh, even if it did defiled the sanctity of the QC.
Simple3: Stick to beer, and watch your intake. Stitch and I don't tag people and we will always help people back to their room. But we enjoy not being scared, so take it easy next time.
Weird Guy at Quarks: Don't be a douche, saying "in texas we shoot queers" only makes me really want to mess with you. And us queers carry too ;)
Justabill: Thanks for partying with us, you kepts everything calm and pretty chill. I hope your unusually large testicals shrink soon.
Security guards (guys in blue): It's nice to party at defcon when you should is over, but watch the amount of liquor you consume and don't get too out of hand... It undermines your authority when you "party" too hard and get out of hand.
To the head Deputy Dog (guys in white shirts): I'm sorry you couldn't get into the Police Academy, but it's nothing to cry over. If you give into people goading you then it just makes YOU look bad.
Bascule: Sorry I didn't get to hangout with you much, and sorry your powerpoint during your talk didn't work at first. Relax on the narcotics, it will help you in the long run.
Oversight: Thanks for being too cool to come over and say hello.
Detok: Thanks for being too cool to show up for Con.
Skroo: Sorry you couldn't make it, I hope you're feeling better. It would have been nice to see you again, but hopefully there's always next year.
Humperdink: Thanks for making the Leetest Link really fun to watch. Those of us in the QC were laughing our asses off.
Blossom: You are the ultimate spy of the QC. Thanks for hanging out with us, stitch and I enjoyed your company very much. Your clothes for the Scav Hunt drag thing were also good. It was nice finally being able to put a face to a name and you are a very cool person.
ChemX: Everytime I heard your name I thought of "Chemical Ali"... I'm glad you loosend up after awhile and had fun. It was nice to hangout with you and I really hope we get to see not just blossom next year but also you. I would really like to get to know you better as well. Maybe you can show us some of your leet coding skillz ;)
McGruffD: It was very nice to hangout with you. Sorry I didn't have more time to talk to you, I would have enjoyed sitting down and having a better conversation. Maybe I'll take a trip out to Colorado to hangout with you and the 719 group before the next Defcon.
Thorn: It was nice getting to meet you, sitting down and talking with you. Finally got to put a face to a name. I enjoyed the conversation about work and you finally got rid of that "white" fed esc shirt. You did a good job with the WD Competition and I really hope you come out to DC next year and we have a chance to talk more.
Renderman: Sorry I peed on your leg. You're a really cool guy, and an asset to the wardriving community. Thanks for letting the queer consulate hold onto Kyle during the Con. It was good hanging out with you and chilling.
Pezz: Thank you for making me drink out of that 6 foot long straw at quarks... I had a good time hanging out with you for the short period of time that we did, both at quarks and during the con itself. You may not remember some of it since you appeared to be intoxicated to a great level each time I saw you.
This was part 1, there is still a great deal of you I would like to thank and will in part 2, but to save time I decided to post this to try to help keep track of things.
