I'm trying to connect to the alt.2600 newsgroup, with netscape, but I cant subscribe to anything, I don't know if i have to change the port or what, it is now on 119, i'm putting alt.2600 as the news server...

alt.2600 is not a news server. It is comparable to a channel name (such as "Community Talk").

What you need is a NNTP server. Your ISP usually provides this service, but, if they do not, then you must locate one on your own. Search the web for either NNTP or Usenet server for more information.

Thank you, netscape has one I think, it is "secnews.netscape.com", and from there I can subscribe to their newsgroup, but whan I make a new account (newsgroup account) it doesn't ask me about that, it only asks about the newsserver... if I put secnews.netscape.com, it connects to that...

As far as I know, secnews.netscape.com is "non-networked" newsgroup server that is not part of the larger Usenet network. In other words, it carries only netscape/mozilla-related groups.

If your ISP does not provide a Usenet server, I have had some success with newzbot.

PS: If you can stand the interface, Google offers a Web interface to many groups, including alt.2600.

Google Groups. Granted it's not a complete Usenet feed but unless you really need alt.binaries it's probably good enough.
