    It's not important.

    He essentially said:

    If you have to choose between Java and assembly, then he is not going to recommend that you use C++. Likewise, if you have to choose between C++ and assembly, then he is not going to recommend that you use Java.

    I'm going to assume that he felt bad for straying off of the topic by bringing in a third language.

    Also in regards to the thread how can you say which language is basically more secure than another. Java is safer with memory allocation but C optimizes RAM better. So it all comes down to personal preference I say play with what you like and then move on to bigger things. Everything has inherent flaws in it, just ask Bill Gates but asking which is better is like asking is BSD better than Linux. (pick your distribution) Certain OS' do certain things better than other OS' just like languages. Why programmers write different languages is to correct mistakes they think are abuses in another language or because they think a different language can do something better than another can.
