Holy shit!! I know you guys learn proper English down there.. USE IT!
Defcon is in Vegas... how about you come here instead of 6,000+ folks go there?

Then why not start one in europe as well? and maybe asia while we're at it? Hell, why exclude the people's of antartica?

The point is, if we split defcon into multiple events, it won't be the centralized community that most enjoy about it.

If someone REALLY wants to go, they'll find a way, no matter how far away they live.

There are mini-defcon groups that meet on semi-regular basis in locations around the world-- sort of like 2600 meetings. There are 2600 meetings by area codes and 2600 has HOPE (variations on name) as an event every few years in NY,NY (USA) and DefCon has DefCon (the event in LV,NV (USA)) and DefCon also has "mini-Local Meetings" all over the world. (These are not DefCon-- but they may contain people who attend DefCon.

DC-Groups: (Regional meetings. Check your region) Looks like there is a "DC-Group" that meets in Brisbane.

              Forums for discussing Local Meetings:

It is just there is some big name company's that show up there so i just thought they could get some help in bring it to the down under.
It can be expensive to travel to the US to DefCon, but there are people who attend DefCon from Austrailia. Though you cannot save much money on travel expenses, you might be able to find other people with which to share a room or other expenses.

Stick around. If the forums are like last year, we may see a new section on trip/travel/ride-sharing/room-sharing in these forums. Maybe you can attend a local DC Group meeting, find other who will go, and join them in their room to save money. Maybe they have ideas on how to get to the US cheaply.

              Good luck.

Apparently you missed Ruxcon, and I can't pull up the page now so I can't tell you if there is another coming up or not. The address is http://www.ruxcon.org.au/
That is to say, if you have not the dedication to actually go to defcon, you may go to something close in your neck of the woods.
                  Where's the dedication?
