  • Contest change/update

Due to some misunderstandings and communication problems this contest will be run by UAT.

I apologize to anyone who may have begun a build already. Hopefully it won't be too difficult to fall within the rules they establish.

You should contact them if you have any further questions regarding the contest.

Thanks for the support, please don't let this deter you from entering the contest this year.

Also please note the reason for the thread deletions was to avoid any confusion that may arise out of multiple sets of rules/guidelines, etc. listed here in the forums.

I would like to thank LosT for all he has done. He kept the contest alive when there was a question of its fate.

By not running a contest, you will be able to spend time playing at DefCon instead of working, and maybe dedicate yourself to a robotic design before the con-- leaving more time at the con to play. :-)

As for entering into the TCP/IP embedded contest again? Bah! I think you have the better idea. Enter the robotic contest and devote your skills and free time to that contest. By choosing not to compete in the embedded contest, you help create opportunity for others.

Also, with such a late start in the robotics contest, you won't have much time to devote to participating in an embedded device contest.

Yeah, and with such a late start I'll be lucky to have anything decent for the bot competition, but that's ok. It's all for fun :)

Then there is the advantage of entering a new contest [robotic] and how much more you learn with something new compared to something that is familiar [embedded].

              Hey guys,

Those who had emailed intents to enter, I forwarded your information to the UAT contact. (Just so you know.)

They are working hard on putting good stuff together, and the contest should be great. Please continue to work on your entries and show your support for Defcon.

See ya in Vegas! Hell yeah!

At this point they have a full 3 months to host a great contest, and several months of tireless work from your hyping a contest and generating interest for them, your provision of great links to get a good start, and your raw excitement, and thoughts on how a contest could be run. They have been handed an excellent head-start. :-)

If this is a success, they owe you great thanks for all of the hard work you've done up till now, but the ultimate outcome of this contest is now entirely up to them and their hard work.

Hopefully we'll see some sort of announcment and link to their site soon.

It appears that UAT now has their rules up here:

                    Good luck everyone.
