Originally posted by Voltage SpikeI don't know if this is true, but my outsider's perspective leads me to believe that the Alexis Park does not free up the individual rooms when people cancel. Instead, the hotel staff waits until they get a sufficiently large block and then release them all at once. Last year when this happened we got a helpful post on the forums announcing this fact.
[Story behind this has been removed]
There was no special "notify me" list. They were fist come, first serve after the notice was posted to the forums last year.

I stayed the comfort inn a couple of years ago...My room faced the strip club next door...it was a little roudy and noisy at times, but, oh that was from us...I let someone crash with me that I met the 1st day of defcon.....the room was small - he slept on the floor...there wasn't even room for a cot...the bathroom tiny...and it was little dank...the 2 girls in the room next to us were working and they were really funny...they offered me a freebie at one point - didn't partake...shit they seemed to make a lot of money that weekend... they worked the Hard Rock...they said thursday night was usually their best...i think there were at least 3 other rooms that were conductin business transactions....oh and they guy at the front desk was creepy

This site has a good guide to cheap hotels and food in vegas.
The food at the Pink Taco at the Hard Rock was pretty good, the guacamole was great. The burgers at Hamburger Marys were huge and tasty. I couldn't finish mine in one sitting. The other place I enjoyed was the Peppermill. It's very retro-swanky tacky (be sure to check out the fireplace in the bar) and the food was pretty good. I reccomend the nachos, they are huge and very good.
The problem I encountered the most was trying to find vegetarian options for the boyfriend. I'm a total carnivore, so finding good cheap eats was never a problem for me, but vegas is pretty bad for vegetarians."There are no failed experiments, only more data"

This Map show a Jack In The Box (to the right) and the AP is to the left of UNLV[/url], but looking at the sat photograph, it does not bring back memories. The Indian food places was one block to the west of the Jack In the Box I remember (meaning 1 block closer to the AP.)
Maybe the Jack in the Box I am thinking of, has moved.
I'll try to look more to see if I can find the place.

Imagine that 2 people are going to share a room. One reserves the room with a credit card and then later on is unable to go. Why should the other party lose out on the room as well? I'd think just a phone call to the AP explaining the situation would allow the other person to submit a credit card in lieu of the one who can no longer attend.
