"There is an official color/symbol that'll be used to identify a queer hacker."

But a good majority of the Queer's at Defcon are Scenewhores, will there be a different shade of the color for the hackers and the scenewhores? And what about the gay feds, do they get their own special colors?

No, TheCotMan, you won't. :) Unless you want to, in which case, just come find me. I'll be the one with a tie on.
    "Heh-heh, heh-heh. Hrm. Ummm. That's pretty cool!"
You've got one of the two intended meanings ("finding a 'catch'"), the other making fun of older perceptions.

As for being straight or not, I've never stated my sexuality in any post, or conversation at the con. 0:-) but HighWizard said this made him think I might be gay.

    Your FAQ is great! Thanks!

On a serious note, only two of those listed were jokes*. The suggestion for a FAQ is genuine.
The humor in the last item was in the double meaning of "catch."

    * jokes: sort of like the funny kind-- only different.

Unlimited is cool when it isn't an item you'd obviously try to get more of. For example, we won at DC10 on account of the "Do a cannonball into the pool, 10 pts for each item of clothing". Other teams had each member jump into the pool with what they were wearing. Instead of doing that, we waited til Sunday afternoon, 10 mins before the final bell, piled every piece of clothing we owned onto Siviak and waddled him out to the pool. He almost drowned, the rest of us stayed dry, and victory was quite sweet!

heh... you know that guy has WAY too much free time he may have done it.

But seriously, the 801 guys have done one hell of a job keeping it fun and challanging. I only hope that my help and ideas will make it even better this year.

Unlimited is still cool if you have to work hard at each and every one of the unlimited items. For instance, some unlimited items could include meteorite pieces weighing more than one pound, LVPD shirts complete with badge and nametag, 1913 Liberty Head nickels, home made 100GB ipods, etc.

While we may not have made first place (with or without the tabs) as soon as they arrived with 8 bags of tabs we ditched out last day run that would have given us everything but the clothes pins. When you see a site like that, your motivation just drops to nothing.

I supose the unlimited item would still be cool, so long as what that items "is" is withheld securly until the contest accually begins. This would give total equal timeline for all teams, and would allow for more teams to join the next year. It's hard to say "I'll join next year, that looked fun" when one team beats out all other teams by very large margin.

/NOT complaining, just pointing out the obvious. Will still be there this year

Anyways, agree that the unlimited item should get ditched. That was kinda wack.
If it was seriously going to cause problems, I would of done something about it... judges have every right to step in on an item and rule one way or another, it's been like that every year. However, the game went amazingly well, and the popcan tabs just added a bit of spice and humor to the game. I do recall that even without the tabs, the teams would of all been in the same position. I could of called Siviak and Highwizard out on that one, and stepped their points down to a point per 50 tabs for the lack of effort put into gathering the number of tabs they did (as we like to watch the players suffer =), but there was no point.

Would Siviak come back to this game 3 years in a row now to play a game he thought wasn't any fun and ran very poorly?

    ...

    wait... don't answer that question...

But HEY! It's cool! I'm just saying.....

    SAYING IT'S FREAKIN ON!!!!

    Come get some!!!!

It's not our fault you didn't know how to play the game.

This is historically the reason that most teams WHINE about losing.

You lost, suck it up and stop whining.

I was trying to make a point that the unlimited items take the fun out of the game, do you disagree? Should they keep them?

I'm all for helping charity, but make it a pre-hunt list item worth 100 points and leave it at that... No more unlimited items!

We could have gone in there with all our soda tabs and won the game without even doing anything else... And that would have killed the competiton...

So lets all be smart this year and vote NO to unlimited items.
