When do you want to forum-based online signup of the LPCon to be closed and force users to register at the table?
    Thanks.

in any case, that's how things seem to be shaping up. i plan to be hanging around the public lockpick area until at least 4:00 or 5:00 (i want to sit in on either the Wi-Fi legal/ethical talk or catch a repeat of major malfunction's IR presentation... which i would encourage everyone who wasn't at ShmooCon to attend since it's FUCKING FANTSTIC... and pilgirm's talk about Wi-Fi gear may be neat if he covers new hardware. in fact, all of the talks at 5:00 look good. damn, the more i check things out the more outstanding the whole schedule is. i may start a thread asking what talks have really lept off the page for people and who is hoping to see what.)
Dang, the contest is 1-4 Friday and Saturday. If you or any other speakers that day make it to round two, I can try to schedule your heats around your talks. If you are going until 1, and then sitting in with Laz until 2, I can make sure that we squeeze you in around 3 or later for round 2. We need to be done with the finals by 4, so maybe you could do your overflow from 4-5 and then hit the 5 talks?

I'd love to catch the IR talk, but it all depends on how fast you guys move through the competition!!!

Anyway, we can make things work so you can still compete!

    Kai

    (Check your PMs BTW)

i'll also be certain to schedule the Beverage Cooling Contraption Contest for noon on saturday, so that if by some miracle i make it to the second day of competing it won't conflict.

    <shameless plug>
(there's been a lot of interest in the BCCC, and a respectable number of people have signed up to compete... but i'd always be pleased with additional participants. it's not too late to start designing and building something, people!

I'll leave your plug in there, but I still think the best way to test is to let me drink the beer!

Let me know when your schedule is set! I plan on going to your presentation, and know several others who want to as well.

Will be updatuing the rules page this weekend, so look for updates.

Every year we buy new locks for the contest, but this year we have sponsors who have purchased us new locks that are all keyed the exact same for each round. This should try and help the "fairness" of the contest.

Big thanks to Freaky at IU and Varjeal at LP101.

    Correct!

We had a few people drop out last year, so if the fisrt 72 fill up, then comes the wait list, which will also be available at the con. First 72 that go are guaranteed a spot.

We are using some new locks this year, so depending on timing with the other events, if we can run more than 72 we will, but I can't guarantee anything until we start seeing these locks get picked.

    Good idea!

I always did like the beer lock (and yes, we had the Schlage Everest first time around). There were concerms about supporting underage drinking, but I do like the schwag idea!

I'll think abou this, and then update the page. If we go this way, REMEMBER to bring ALL your tools, because you never know what type of lock may be on there!

i can see how this might be the case, what with the monumental time it takes to participate in and run the event. what if, instead of the obstacle course as a test for the most leet, we returned to a task that i think was from two or three years ago... the beer lock(s).

what if a handful of harder locks -- ACE tubular, medeco, schlage everest (was this the beer lock the first time around?) -- were just off to the side somewhere, possibly securing small boxes or lockers in which would be a prize card signed by LPCon organizers. the prizes could be things like beer, swag, etc. that way, these harder locks could be sort of challenge events that run themselves... just sitting in the public pick area with some experts fiddling with them while others watch in awe.

if someone pops one, they get the prize. if not, no big deal. just added fun off to the side where those with fu can flex and you organizers don't have to bother overseeing the matter all that much.

started a topic LPCON III Rules...

    LPCON III Rules...

    New rules are up folk!

    http://www.securitytribe.com/%7Ekaig...PCONRules.html

And don't forget the FAQ page.

    http://www.securitytribe.com/%7Ekaig.../LPCONFAQ.html

This weekend I'll work on getting the recaps reposted for previous years and pictures / video up from previous years. Most things are the same as usual, but we may be canning the obstacle course unless their is enough interest.

    Brief update on changes:
We were quite pleased with the new timer last year, and this year plan on addressing issues with the sensors that limited the number of contestants per heat in some rounds. Every year we try and improve to make this contest moe *professional*, and are continiung that this year.

    Reminder:
Please check out our sponsor links at the bottom, without them, we wouldn't be able to constanlty improve every year.

Thanks to everybody be ye particpant, spectator, staff, or sponsor!
