Here in my place, we have one day processing for tourist visa for Canada.
I know that you are going to US so you might be confused why am I posting. The premise for temporary resident issuance lies on the most basic of things. During an orientation, a visa officer told us what to look for when pre-assesing an application and to think of the destination country as our house. The things that will make you say "yes, come in" to a visitor are the same things the visa officer looks for. The such things are:
Who are you? (application form)
Why are you going to stay in my house? (Purpose of travel)
Are you free from disease? (Med Cert, usually by their Designated Medical Practitioner)
Convicted of any crime? (Police Certificate)
Where are you going to sleep [stay] (hotel accomodations, iteniraries)
Do you have money?[sufficient funds to support your stay] (banks statements, usually 6 mos old, older the better)
How long do you plan to stay? (this will be weighed against you're funds)
and the most important...
When do you plan to leave? (you need to prove that you have enough ties in your home country that you will be back after the end of the your allowed stay)
Previous travels from other countries is a big plus.
Again this is not for US Immigration, I just thought that maybe this could help for your future travels.
