I'm doing a review on IBM tivoli's security products...does anyone has any information except from those provided on IBM's web site.

I would be really greatfull if they were any paper comparing Tivoli's products with other ones.

Also I would like to here your experience on those products.

    Thanks

Someone mentioned it on Slashdot yesterday in comments to "What's a good IDS to use" question. I didn't realize that Travoli was a SIM product. Wonder how it would fare against the others.

I know that Tivoli's product are &^**&* but I can't find an external evaluation of these &^%%$ products.
Anyway, I'm just wasting my time and yours...you obsiously are involved with more interesting things.

PS: Yes, Tivoli say they have an IDS, it is more a VA and they call it Risk Manager (go figure...), but I doudt if it is worth using it....

            like I care now....

If you cannot answer the question, why do you bother posting a reply....

To prove that you are smarter from others?

K, first off this is not "Do foot work for others, cause there lazy and/or ignorant" forums. This is _DefCon_ forums, usually relating to DC issues, with some technical flavor. And while people may request a google check first, you don't need to blast them. They were here first, and you drive a hard bargin to get help when you blast them. Now people look at you funny no matter what issue you may bring to the table in future (if any) disscussions.

What if you were to say "I hear about this Trovli stuff at IBM, google doesn't really provide the answers to my question, I want to <insert details of technical feat here> and not sure if this works with it. Any thoghts?"

And if you still get flamed, retort with "Oh, good point, I did do the google thing and <insert unuseful information ubtained from google here> was not really what I was looking for, I was really looking for <insert newly worded explanation of features wanted/needed here>, thoughts?"

Don't shoot back with a fire vs. fire reply, don't be a fool, wrap your tool.

I would suggest you do your own test instead of basing yourself on other people papers, papers does't tell if a product is secure or not...

I would suggest you start by testing for Directory Transversal

Oooohh... you wanted specific information? and not from IBMs site (meaning.. 'hey, does anybody know any super l33t k33n s3kr!t 1inf0z on IBM?') Why, here's a link to an Tivoli users group.

Since this doesn't look like a Tivoli Forum, I'd be grateful if you'd ask your questions somewhere more appropriate.

Well, it looks like you finally have a statement to go with your original question. Like hackajar said, if you had come here saying
hey, I searched google and only found [reference]. But I need to find an external evaluation of [security products]
then maybe people would have been willing to help. Then again, probably not.

"Helpful" is not part of my job description last I checked. Neither is acting as a free research assitant for any ar-tard who is too lazy/dumb to do a proper search.

As to being smart, I assure you there are many, many people here a million times smarter then I. I also assure you that they will be likely to tell you the same thing I did, ie go piss up a rope.

The info you want is out there. The product has been on the market for a long time. Had you made a real effort you would have more trouble sorting through it all rather than finding it.

In closing, I can only assume you got your fill of yummy, yummy paint chips growing up. Go away.
