fortunately, my numbers worked out correctly. when checking out i even had them remove an internet use charge from my bill because, despite attempting a connection... nothing ever came up for me. i had assumed that the in-room internet was turned off or broken. they took a moment or two of convincing, but they took it off the bill.

"I'll admit I had an OiNK account and frequented it quite often… What made OiNK a great place was that it was like the world's greatest record store… iTunes kind of feels like Sam Goody to me. I don't feel cool when I go there. I'm tired of seeing John Mayer's face pop up. I feel like I'm being hustled when I visit there, and I don't think their product is that great. DRM, low bit rate, etc... OiNK it existed because it filled a void of what people want."

Well, I just reported my $50 charge from the AP as fraud to my credit card company (bank of america). I tried contacting AP three times by leaving a voice mail with accounting and they never called back. No problems with BofA, they just wanted to make sure that I had attempted to contact the AP.--- The fuck? Have you ever BEEN to Defcon?

i just spotted something while going through credit card receipts and other paperwork... among the small pile that's been on my desk for the past couple weeks was my check-out sheet from the Alexis Park. it appears that they charged me $139.00 per night (with tax on top of this)
was that the rate that they were giving this year? i could have sworn that when i made my reservation and checked-in they quoted me the same figure that i can recall since at least three defcons ago... $129.71 per night. did the price go up ten dollars this year or am i getting hosed?
i know that ten dollars doesn't sound like a lot of money but when you consider that i was there for five days... $50 is a fair amount of change. maybe i was just too caught up in other things this year and didn't notice being told a different amount by the staff."I'll admit I had an OiNK account and frequented it quite often… What made OiNK a great place was that it was like the world's greatest record store… iTunes kind of feels like Sam Goody to me. And yes, I too was disappointed to see the rates had gone up under new management.

yeah, I experienced some wierd crap this year, the customer service is poor. They made alot of screw ups, people just seem confused. When I called about the additional charges they seemed confused, I was transfered 3 times before someone could even lookup my name, and they couldnt spell it after I spelt it for them twice. And I experienced the same as everyone else, straight to voice mail when attempting to contact the manager.
They failed to return my call about the extra charges, but they did return a call to the credit card holder, and said they were going to resolve it.
I guess we wait and see.
Also they told him they had photos of damages before they repair them, so that people who argue the charges can see what they were charged for.

Those charges are nothing. I ended up with (I just saw it last night) $800 of additional charges.
I know that I have the biggest suite availible. I know that I throw the biggest party at defcon. I also know that I personally inspected the room for damage at checkout. Aside from some carpet cleaning that will probably be needed, there was nothingwrong with the room. No holes in the walls, no scratches on the countertops, no stains on the couches, no problems in the bathrooms, and we even moved the furniture back in to position.
This is the best condition i have ever left the suite. I've been throwing big ass parties for about five years. I have never been charged additional funds. As I'm currently unemployed, I cannot afford to eat $800 worth of charges. I'm not even sure what they are for! I'll be sure as hell to find out when they open in five hours. And I've already reported the charges as invalid to my bank.
Needless to say, if defcon (By some unseen miracle from what I hear) happens at the AP again, I'll be paying with a visa gift card under an assumed name with just enough money on it to pay the bill. And if they punk me for the $800 this year, I'll make sure I take it out of their hide next year.
What's even worse is that I travel to LV about five times a year on business. I always have stayed at the AP just to make sure they get the support they deserve for supporting DC. I've also convinced several coworkers (Well...not coworkers anymore I guess) to stay there as well. I've personally brought in about 12 weeks of business a year for them. I'll make sure that all that goes away as well.

Doubt it will be much luck from DT...
AP management is a bit peeved this year. Mostly bent out of shape because they got arrested Friday night. hehe.
Im not sure the details as I was on CTF all friggin weekend, but I heard the no tax stamp on the cigs and no permit to sell in the first place PO'd the ATF persons attending and whilst I was paying for a Gatorade they came with a warrant and took the owners away in cuffs.
Im guessing all these little "hidden charges" are payback for something they did to themselves in the first place.
Id say nest time you should all take snaps of the room before and after you leave. Fighting hotels once they have your money is a bitch and a half. Once they got it they could care less and are less inclined to refund.

In my experience, the companies push hard for up-selling their services, but they roll over in a heartbeat if it means keeping your business. That's the beauty of a highly-competitive market.
Originally posted by Deviant Ollamif you have a CC from a large, reputable, powerful bank you just tell them that a charge is bogus (while providing a relatively complete summary of the timeline and details of the event) and they'll reverse the charge...
"This particular charge is wrong. I never approved it."
"Did you contact the company to let them know of your dispute?"
"Errr, no."
"Okay. Well I have removed the charge from your card. Let us know if you need anything else."
