In fact, it's just a convenient entry and interception point for a "wardriver," a hacker gone mobile, unless it's encrypted.
Of course, toughness is relative. Some people think actor Russell Crowe is a tough guy. But he'd be dogmeat to a mixed martial arts expert.
A year ago, WEP - or Wired Equivalency Privacy, the frequently unused encryption that comes with some routers - was still aptly named. Then some hacker figured out ...

It is people like Jeremy that give 'news' a good name and show hope and promise for the future of humanity.
.. but.. Renderman .. they let out your supersecret identity? <fingers tap> excellent
if it gets me nowhere, I'll go there proud; and I'm gonna go there free.
"We've taught our kids that computers are a tool that can be used, but we haven't necessarily taught them what they should and shouldn't be used for, so it's often open to interpretation."
Its hard to construct the technological moral fiber in children when many of the current generation parents have no understandings of the technological world and its set of moral codes. In short my point is; Its hard to teach what you don’t understand.
There were so many things that bugged me in that article. Do I look like a superhero? Believe me, I don't look very good in tights or a cape. Besides, I'm more of a mad scientist then a hero.
Lowest common denominator I guess. The 'Sun' newspaper here is one notch above a tabloid and they admit it.
It's far from the worst I've ever seen and I'm not totally ashamed to be in it, Just wishing I had an oppourtunity to edit the thing before release. I hate coming out like a cartoon character.
The reporter took a few weeks to write it, rather than the usual issue-of-the-day, written in 10 minutes crap you usually see.
Alx: You should have my identity already from the WD contest
Siviak: Rumors of my demise have been greatly exaggerated
CP99: A better read is the spyware portion from 2 days earlier: http://www.edmontonsun.com/News/Spec...58376-sun.html , yes I am heavily quoted. I'm vain like that. You try explaining unicode to a reporter, it's not easy

I agree that it's not a bad article at all. Reporters are always trying to make their stories more sensational...that's how they keep jobs. :) It was a good read, your points are salient and it keeps your attention.
Oh, and my memory for stuff like the WD contest is like RAM...once I go to sleep...it all goes away. Besides, it was c0n that mentioned that ;)

I think you'd look cute in a cape ..
heheh.. yeah, in the scope of wardriving articles that one does ok. It just struck me as funny that some of his article completely outed that he had absolutely no clue what he was writing about... and that he is going to pioneer the future of security in his next article .. after writing about a subject that was news almost half a decade ago.

I think people would rather be penetrated by Choda Boy's helmet probiscus than rendermans.
Great satan shirt on Panthera as well.
If a chicken and a half, can lay an egg and a half, in a day and a half... how long would it take a monkey, with a wooden leg, to kick the seeds out of a dill pickle?
I dont know that I've ever seen a news story where something was misquoted, taken out of perspective, or information non relavent to the story was included.
Although I agree, much better than some other stories on war driving I've seen.
