If not, well... you can figure out what will happen.

Downing forums at 5:50pm pacific time.
And they should be back up.
Please reply here, or PM me, or send email to defconforums@gmail.com if you observe something out of the ordinary.

And it is back. Please let us know if you see strangeness with it too.

There are plans for one more round of maintenance on pics tommorow, but I am waiting for delivery of something before that can proceed. No ETA on next maintenance on pics, but there is hope for it to happen tommorrow.

Pics should be back up again.

Please let me know if you see problems or stuff broken on pics.defcon.org.

I know about the broken "big image" display, and I think I know the cause. I only need time to build a solution.

DT has asked for the social networking links to be enabled on the forums, and of course, these are his forums and he is the boss. :-)

Now when viewing a thread, if you scroll to the bottom, you should see:

                * Submit Thread to Google Google
All on one line with little icons.

As requested, we are testing sub-forums display embedded in parent forum description:

If you like the concept, but would like to see the formatting improved, then voice that opinion, too.

Ugh! It just looks incredibly broken, and difficult to use. What problem are you trying to solve that you did this? I'm confused.

Yes, I know that you said to post over in the project thread, but I can't see where the discussion there warns about the sudden (at least to me) change in how things are presented. I even switched back and forth from different browsers, and from defcon legacy to defcon main.

We occasionally provide tests like this when users request a feature, to see if the new feature is desirable by many. In a few cases, the response for a feature was so one-sided, the feature only remained up for 1 day.

So far, you and Chris are both against it. Since it has gone live, we have seen no positive review. It is possible, that with enough similar comments, this feature and test will be removed quickly.

Thumbs down from me. It's too crowded.

I'm still trying to understand where the demand was. The thread you'd mentioned isn't something public that shows up when I select the "New Posts" choice, so unless one pays close attention to this thread in public notices, this change is a complete surprise.

I will note that I initially thought something was wrong with my browser, even though you'd posted about this change.

Can we hope it'll be gone by tomorrow?

The thread is in a project, and they had different icons for them, but were titled, "Public Forum Issues." Now, I have changed that default large icon to be the same icons used by forums, even though it is not a forum. This doesn't change the permissions to view it, but might make it stand out as a place that has had recent activity. Does this help with that specific issue?

Heh heh. Based on what I've seen so far, opinion favors removal. I've added more formatting to provide single column view.

ack! kill it... kill it with fire!

(that is my vote on the matter, heh)

I don't feel cool when I go there. I'm tired of seeing John Mayer's face pop up. I feel like I'm being hustled when I visit there, and I don't think their product is that great. DRM, low bit rate, etc... OiNK it existed because it filled a void of what people want."

You can add my name to the list of people who are opposed to it.
And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts, And I looked and behold: a pale horse. And his name, that sat on him, was Death. And Hell followed with him.
