  • Our man at the front..

    Just as it happens in villages, towns and cities all over the US and Europe, it holds true for the virtual communities like the DC forums. People we know, get shipped overseas to the troublespots of the world, and are gone for periods, and in the worst case scenario, run the risk of not coming back.

    A friend of mine, a US navy officer, and a regular both here and at the NetStumbler forums, theprez98, just got word to me, that he arrived in-theater in Iraq today.

    Whether you agree or disagree with the politics involved, please keep him and his family in your thoughts, while he is serving the country, and visit his blog to show him that "out of sight != out of mind".

    If you have friends or relatives who are over there as well, remember to show them and their families, that they are not forgotten.

        wow. i've enjoyed talking with theprez here on the forums for some time now. i even had the pleasure of meeting him in the hotel bar at the most recent shmoocon. i join everyone else in expressing the hope that his time in the sandbox is uneventful, brief, and safe.

        prez, keep your head down and your ass covered. when you can't do that, keep your action clean and your shots few and true. come home soon, come home safe.
        "I'll admit I had an OiNK account and frequented it quite often… What made OiNK a great place was that it was like the world's greatest record store… iTunes kind of feels like Sam Goody to me. I don't feel cool when I go there. I'm tired of seeing John Mayer's face pop up. I feel like I'm being hustled when I visit there, and I don't think their product is that great. DRM, low bit rate, etc... OiNK it existed because it filled a void of what people want."

          Hope you'll be ok (All body parts still there, mind allright) when you come home.

          [And if you really need to do something stupid, just don't film it and post it on youtube or flickr... (Like that Lynndie-thing. Yuck.) ] {Just some stupid, trying to be funny joke. If it offends you, please ignore it. I'm sure it will offend someone, and that's ok.}
