Re: What do I need to do to broadcast
I need to know a good open frequency with wiggle room (+/- .2 megahertz (200Khz)) in Las Vegas.
So any residents of vegas, if you could break out your digital tuners and find a nice open freq. (if its 103.2 be sure everything between 103.0 and 103.4 is clear too, or relatively clear)
I plan on building a jpole antenna, so it will be fixed tuned to the freq. I plan on xmitting on.
Cool,
Thanks a lot

I don't know? What are you doing to help make it happen??
For myself, i'm open to hosting a core/main stream in my colo if there are multiple people wanting to run a transmitter & sync up the broadcast...

Re: What do I need to do to broadcast
Hey Nak, good to see you on the boards-
I keep contemplating building a radio "for export only" - (yeah, I have some friends in Korea I could send it to...) ;)

Re: What do I need to do to broadcast
Hi DMZ, I might be interested in taking and running with the torch for this year, I guess its time to break out the jolly roger flag and drop a couple hundred on a transmitter.
I think I have told you I already have my ham radio license, so I know the basics of radio theory, which should help out when building the antenna and kit :)
Opinions on this transmitter?: http://fmtv.us/tx/index.htm
It has been recommended to me by one person so far! Any other recommendations around the same price?

What do I need to do to broadcast
Read this:
http://www.freeradio.org/index.php?pagename=legal.php
Know your rights and what you are possibly violating
Then this:
http://www.freeradio.org/index.php?p...tutorials.html
http://www.freeradio.org/index.php?p...av=mpb/mpb.php
http://www.freeradio.org/index.php?p...powerlinks.php
http://www.freeradio.org/index.php?p...e=hotlinks.php
Ok, now go get some hardware:
http://www.freeradio.org/index.php?p.../frb_kits.html
Now what, you may ask? Well test of course!
Assemble your antenna (i used a copper j-pole both on the ground in between buildings @ AP and on the roof once, and got 3-7/8 miles with 15W) (NOTE: LEGALLY YOU SHOULDN'T PLUG IN YOUR ANTENNA...remember you read the docs above??), put the pieces together and plug it into your computer audio output.
Site note...what hardware should I use? Well it only needs to receive an audio stream and play on a sound card. Grab an old 386 MB and boot from usb flash with any of the random images that supports a sound card. You need mpg123 or something like it and aumix to adjust levels.
Now your set! Just start mpg123 on your favoriate radio station (hint: radio.defconradio.org:8000) and turn on your car or house radio!Tags: None
