  • Panopticon

    http://throwawayyourtv.com/2006/07/m...hotosynth.html

Are we quickly losing our privacy to a society of increasingly connected mobile devices with photographic/recording capibility?

What happens when semantic annotation of Internet resources starts putting this sort of information together in new and scary ways?

Google just bought a photo recognition company too, by the way:

Here's a Podcast on the matter, an episode of RU Sirius's NeoFiles:

    Re: Panopticon

See the Panopticon concept in action:

    http://www.walkingboss.com

    Here's how it works:

Buy a GPS unit which continuously records your location to GPX format. Stick it on your belt/in your pocket as you vacation and take pictures.

    Upload your photos to Flickr.

Sign up for WalkingBoss and give it your Flickr account. It will import your Flickr photo information.

Upload the GPX file your GPS device produced to WalkingBoss, and give it the time zone of your camera.

WalkingBoss correlates the timestamps on the GPS with the EXIF timestamps on your photos, and figures out where you were when you took each picture.

The end result is a Google map with pinpoints showing you all the locations where your photos were taken.
