  • Cameras Watching Cameras

Just now brought to my attention. I thought it suited the forums nicely.
We always say who's watching the watchers, you would think that *they would have taken that as a sign of disaproval, not to actually do it.

*They- The ambiguous body of power, in form of govt, corporation, or pro sports club, inspiring conspiracy, contempt, rebelliousness. Sometimes causing complacency in many after "they" become too large in number to defeat or too important to the economy.

Wait till they decide that they need a camera to watch the camera that's watching the original camera. I wish I was joking.

There is nothing more dangerous than people with a little knowledge. Which means society is mostly safe.

Perhaps the camera that's watched is the camera that's watching the camera that's watching it.

heh, a great big surveillance circle jerk.
"I'll admit I had an OiNK account and frequented it quite often… What made OiNK a great place was that it was like the world's greatest record store… iTunes kind of feels like Sam Goody to me. I don't feel cool when I go there. I'm tired of seeing John Mayer's face pop up. I feel like I'm being hustled when I visit there, and I don't think their product is that great. DRM, low bit rate, etc... OiNK it existed because it filled a void of what people want."

so let them watching themselves, and leave us some space for racing...
this is a tiny flow of a fresh air in everyday routine for me
You have speedy highways and cameras on them.
We have neither cameras ( even watching themselves ) nor highways.

                Re: Cameras Watching Cameras

Well recently there was a truck driving around my neighborhood with like 8+ cameras with hoods strapped to the roof. At first I thought maybe they were megaphones since they were so large.

About 20 minutes later the same truck passed my house. The back of the truck said "Windows Live" It sparked my curiosity. So we got in a car and drove around looking for him. A few blocks later we found the truck and followed him several blocks while taking some photos.

Figured this fit the topic nicely as the guy driving the truck with tons of cameras was being photographed.

I looked up the website for the company who owned the truck. They are doing street level 3d panoramic imaging. Basically like google earth but with actual images. Not 3d rendered. Their site says 400TB of data collected so far..

So I started thinking about this, peoples houses are being photographed, thier kids if their in the yard, license plates on vehicles parked outside.. this is opening a big can of worms..

                Heres pics of the truck.

http://local.live.com/ is the website, very similar to Google Earth as you noted. In mostly urban areas, you can see the photographs as an alternative to the satellite imagery.
