  • Interesting article...

I was visiting some of my favorite websites today when I came across this article on "hacker profiles" that I thought may be of interest to some of you.

I enjoy talking to myself...it's usually the only intelligent conversations I get to have.

"Script kiddies use default lists of privileged passwords, or the super-user/administrative codes built into every piece of hardware and software."

A simple google search would prove otherwise.

Anyway, the article is good for a few laughs but not much else.

Besides the fact that I think this is a poorly researched article, it sounds like they're describing scenarios in rather large corporations, where I should hope that the admin passwords have been changed, the company doesn't post sensitive information in the clear, and where people have the appropriate permissions in their directories of the server(s). Not having ever actually been in a corporate environment, nor working with computers as such, does this really happen as often as the article makes it sound?
There is nothing more dangerous than people with a little knowledge. Which means society is mostly safe.

Darnit, Rance, making witty comments about the article's incorrectness of script kiddies before me! ;)

Moving over to the more recent thread now.
