Just so it's said, I don't mind drunken debauchery, but I'm not going to encourage it. If some ding dong wants to down 10 ounces of hard liquor and run around like a fool, he/she can do that OUTSIDE of the conference area. There's FAR too much liability for the conference concerning this, especially when you consider the sheer number of hard or pointy objects in and around the conference area.

Maybe running in the contest space won't be so bad? I don't know.

To be honest, I would recommend contacting those that run LPcon as well as those organizing the Village.. or maybe Deviant, Mouse, and the other coool folks in toool.

Also a consideration .. offer a contest organized via russr / LPcon / et al .. but ALSO run some breakouts and hands-on sessions prior to the contest alongside the Village people. This is a concept adopted by us wireless folks to bolster participation and learning, instead of limiting to those that already know what they're doing. If there is one thing I've learned from the Defcon crowd and various prior events/contests, never underestimate the ability of someone unknown that has not touched (subject) before.. to grow attached to the concept and successively kick EVERYONE's ass at it before the weekend is over. CTF, LPcon.. and last year the winners of LosT's mystery box contest were random walk-ons at the last minute. ..just a couple examples.

    ..couple thoughts..

I think that most contests are setup on the floor, but other events, BoF-like sessions, and shops like this are taking place in many other locations like skyboxes.

Even though the LP Village and LP-Con include shared organizers/leaders, I split them into different forums for organization, location and to help draw attention to it as an event at the con that people uninterested in competing might be interested in visiting a learning/information village.

We have the same for the WiFi village and the Wireless contest-- people not interested in competition may not have know about a wifi village discussion space unless we included it as its own forum.

All I need is table space and a reasonable amount of time.

Also thought a best hard core beverage contest would be in order.

i sent our email in a while ago but, just for good measure...

    dc949 will return with aCTFIIII

we would like a table and room for contestants, and (if possible) the ability to not break down our entire setup every night <_<.

we will be bringing a much bigger sound system this time as well so if we are still doing sky boxes, please put our name in the hat :D

Probably best for organizers to send email even though:
If you're running a contest and have not replied here (or you WANT to run a contest) please jump in here ASAP so I can get a running count.
Heck, if you really want to be sure, why not email russ and reply to this thread too!

i had posted about this elsewhere, but i'll mention again that the BCCC event will be happening again... just like in years past we will only need a space with daylight, heat, and adequate ventilation etc. (likely in the concrete "patio" area outside of the contest room doors by the dunk tank)

one suggestion that i would make would be for some of those nice "tents" to be right up against the building so that one can walk outside and mingle in some shade right outside of the doors. i liked having them last year, but they were pushed so far off to the side that most folk didn't go hang out under them.

If you're running a contest and have not replied here (or you WANT to run a contest) please jump in here ASAP so I can get a running count. We have a certain amount of floor space that we need to accomodate, so let me know now if you're going to be there or if you're considering it.

I should be getting an email out this week.
