    (I've edited the quoted section above in *my* post to obfuscate the email address. I have not edited klepto's post, since that is up to klepto.)

    No forum rule on this yet. People can submit email addresses in posts if they want. We purposefully include people's IP address and email address when they make it to Fucktard Hall, however.

    This does bring a point for considering use of audit's forum code to make email addresses into images in posts. Converge is the #1 forum admin, so he can weight this new use if he reviews its poential inclusion again.

    No, a letter will not suffice as you have no idea if that is really from us, I will not verify 240 rejection letters for you. Also, you do not know why we rejected a presentation, sometimes we have very good reason to attempt to negate a persons need for a microphone and an audience. Letting them jump on stage all Willy Nilly style is a breeding ground for law suits and offended souls.
    Good points. It would probably be best to make the event unofficial, if it took place as described.

    As an unofficial event you may be able to get this off the ground on your own with russ's help perhaps, but do be aware you are taking on a great responsibility of hosting a mini-con within a con. The idea has potential, but I am sure there is a vast amount of logistics being cast to the side here. There are liabilities and responsibleness yet to be thought of. and as someone important said recently we are getting close to 30 days out till the show...
    Another option is to bring out the idea from last year.... A "Confession Booth" but instead have a, "mini presentation booth," so people could make their presentation in front of just a camera, and then the person running the event could review each mini presentation and choose what is published online.
    Then the only worries during con revolve around risk of theft or vandalism to equipment, and then the time to go through all of the footage after con.

Obviously you can't accept every single rejected speaker because maybe their talk is not up to par.

    Why not? If it were an event, the organizer could beg Russ for last-minute space in the contest area with 20-40 chairs. 5-10 minute presentations yields:
    10:00->22:00 Friday (12 hours)
    10:00->22:00 Saturday (12 hours)
    10:00->14:00 Sunday (6 hours)
    30 Hours

    5 or 10 minute presentations:
    (10+5)/2 =7.5
    7.5 minutes on average

    (30*60)/7.5=240 presentations.

    So, yeah, how about a RejectCon for rejected DEFCON speakers?
    Detail how you propose to organise such a mini event. I may be able to tactfully direct the rejected speakers to RejectCon, but I'm not sure if I want to. It feels mean to say I'm sorry I couldnt fit you in or your work is not good enough but you can speak here for 5-10 minutes in a kareoke based format. Also, The volume of rejected speakers is so huge would you really want to reject someone twice? or would you just say "show up and wait in line" I understand the good intentions dont get me wrong. Also, how would you know if they actually were rejected?
