I was cleaning a few weeks ago and found a Nintendo Mario Bro Watch I had long forgot about. Wonder if its worth anything.

I almost picked up the NES gun on Saturday, but they wanted too much for it.

folks might not recall but one of the bits of swag i was giving out last year related to old 8-bit platform games... i often bring CDs to defcon containing the full and complete ROM collections for the original NES platform and the Sega Genesis platform (plus their emulators, of course)

those who were at shmoocon this spring may have seen my handiwork in the hacker arcade, where the ROM archives plus some handy little retrozone kits all added up to old-school fun.

i've also now acquired the full SNES archive, as well. if anyone is interested come and find me at con somewhere. perhaps if you have a cold beer i could be convinced to slide a DVD-ROM your way full of goodness. ah, who am i kidding, i'd give it to you even without the beer.

FWIIW, I still have my NES. Trolling Goodwill and other thrift stores looking for NES Games on a Saturday is fun for me...
Actually I blame Cosby for killing the copyparty club. This was the 80's and the only night they'd let us have the room was Thursday, so the club kind of died off when his show came on, though I would dutifully flip the dip switches on the Betamax every Thursday night to set the timer so Pop and I could go.

Y'know, I think somebody ought to talk to the CommVex people about that. A lot of folks overlap anyway actually -- if you look through the pics you'll see some familiar faces if you've been at DC for awhile, guess it's kind of an open secret to hit both.

Jeri E and her boyfriend, whose name I conveniently forget, were upstairs by the IOA / Pirate party last year and there was kind of a little blob of us waxing nostalgic about c64s, Minitel, and a bunch of other 80's stuff. Great DC moment.

I kinda have the home for retired hardware in my basement, though I wish I got them out more often... One of the original Ataris with just Pong, a 2600, a Colecovision, another early console with some kind of racing game, a Ti99a, 2 C64s, and a Vic20, plus a few early PCs like a Tandy1000 and a Compaq lunchbox.

My dad and I were in a C64 copyparty club when I was a kid, which basically was a big sneakernet warez club that met in a church basement every Thursday night.

My dad actually made this kickass "portable" c64 back then, by taking a piece of plywood and zip-tieing the disk drive and keyboard to a piece of plywood with a handle he cut out with a jigsaw. He made me carry the monitor, since it was less valuable.

These kids today with their Hotlines and their ISOHunt, they dunno how good they got it! They never had to trudge through an icy parking lot carrying a TV and a box of floppies to get their fix! And it was snowing too, mind you....

    Okay, I'll stop now.

    Okay, one link.

I'm with you on this one. I also have an Atari 2600 which I break out every now and then. Nothing a control stick and one button.

A friend who is a Vegas dweller went in '03 -- I think it has been downtown in previous years and bounces around cities year to year? I seem to recall it being scheduled just out of reach in '03 (like, almost schedulable as one trip but it would be two weeks in Vegas, my personal definition of Hell).

I would kill to go but I've got way too much crap going on and I've already been rogered by SuckWest for changing my flight once.

Here's a linky of '03's with a bonus pic of 8-bit ninja Jeri Elsworth (aka Rollergirl) sharing the lurv.

Good gravy, I'm having a moment of existential doubt... I think I'm going to the wrong con. /me rushes into the basement to dust of the Vic-20.

I just found out about this yesterday: Classic Gaming Expo 2007

    http://upcoming.yahoo.com/event/190639

    http://www.cgexpo.com/

    [BLOCKQUOTE]
...the world's first and largest event paying tribute to the people, systems and games of yesteryear. ..
    [/BLOCKQUOTE]

Looks like old consoles & such - with a big blowout party at the pinball museum Saturday night. The weekend before DEFCON, July 28th and 29th at the Riviera Hotel and Casino - a good diversion for those here in town with/for Black Hat.

Looks like we missed the pre-reg, so it will cost us $35.
Working...
