Hey guys,

Wanted to nip this in the bud before the villification began - the Minibosses are booked for the Ninja Party on Saturday night, so at this point they won't be playing B&W.

I wrote a much longer post explaining this, but the short version is we had them out a couple years ago for the Ninja Party before they'd ever played B&W, and last year they had expressed an interest in coming back out to play the party again, so we booked them quite a long time ago. B&W hadn't contacted them about coming back this year at that point, so they went ahead and booked with us. We're paying the band, their expenses, their travel and lodging, etc, and handling the performance logistics. It's pretty much already all set up and has been for quite a while.

No intent on messing up the B&W rotation, I didn't even know there was a conflict until just recently. If we had time to rebook we would but we're many thousands of dollars into it at this point with a week to go, so it's more or less locked up. I didn't handle the band planning myself, it was taken care of by other Ninjas, so this just kind of popped up on me.

B&W has plenty of great performers, I'm sure it will be great as usual.

yeah, this announcement didn't turn out the way we planned and that's kind of our fault, we kind of dropped the ball on that for some weird reasons (don't ask). but we'd just like to say there is no love lost from our camp to the b&w ball, we love all involved and hope to continue to be asked to play in the future. we've played three b&ws before and they've all been an awesome, fun time.

of course we want you for next year ! we will work out the details starting jan 1st this time.

I don't see why someone should consider someone a "bad guy" for honoring their agreements agreements. If they promised to play for the Ninja party first, why should anyone cry foul for not being there sooner?

Hear, hear. (Or rather "hear, all ye good people, hear what this brilliant and eloquent speaker has to say!" if the Straight Dope is to be believed.) It kind of stinks that it will be more difficult for the general public to see the Minibosses and the audience will be smaller, but it will be a dedicated audience (in other words, the back of the room won't be waiting for the guitars to get off stage).

Oh, and I'm glad the announcement is a little more public this time around. I was sitting around at a party two years back lamenting how the Minibosses weren't performing when someone mentioned a rumor of the Ninja party. Trying to get last-minute access to a party like that when you are pissed, in the British sense, wasn't exactly my idea of fun.
