  • T-Shirts!

If you didn't get a chance to grab one and still desire, the following inventory remains for this year's Wireless Village tshirts.

    0 XXL (sold out)
    3 XL (1 held)
    12 L (1 held)

Shirts are $20ea + $2 bone towards shipping (US Priority is $5). Proceeds from all sales go toward Church of Wifi projects including the Wireless Village.

The shirt itself consists of the Wireless Village logo on the back, and a fashionable "Irradiate" text with rf tower on the front.

    PM or email if interested.

If you don't have one, you aren't cool, and you do want to be cool, don't you? Plus, c0n did a great job on these shirts. Give him a shout today!

I have mine. I wore mine to the hospital when I got my X-ray. The X-Ray tech said she liked the shirt.

My shirt is special-- it has actually been exposed to radiation. :-)

      Nice work!

Priority mail looks like it comes out overall cheapest/efficient at just under $5, so I'm sticking with it and eating the $3 diff.

Still have shirts in XL and L, the one XXL got snagged quick.

I shouted, which adds enough cool points to make me the coolest man alive!

          Thanks Converge!

Crap...I couldn't renew my wardrobe this year as I missed DC, and since I've lost some weight, all the XXL tees are too big now :)

Are there any XL ones left?

            Cheers,

2 XL left, ... not sure what shipping cost from here to there would build up to, but PM me and we'll see what we can figure out.

Just an FYI I've learned from shipping to family in Ireland: Shipping to Europe via "surface mail" will cost roughly 1.5 to 3 times standard USPS mail rates. The shipping time can be anywhere from three to six weeks.

Shipping at "air mail" rates will run about 5 to 6 times that of the standard rates, but it will get to Europe in about a week to ten days.

Coincidentally I just got two deliveries from the US, both via USPS. One was sent priority Air Mail, and took exactly 8 days, the second was sent regular mail and took 14 days, both quite reasonable. The regular mail one cost $22, but was a largeish box with some leather inside (nonono, not that sort of leather, but a radio case & strap from these guys).

Thanks converge, will PM you in a bit.

                    Re: T-Shirts!

Converge, for the people in Europe, under the VAT, you could offer a service to help them avoid any extra charged for picking up items imported from overseas...

Here is how it could work.
If they choose to have a new tee shirt, then the cost of the shirt is X + Y for Shipping and handling. (Same as it is right now.)

If they want to avoid taxes, then you charge them $1.00 for the shirt, and (X-1.00) for the service of you wearing the shirt on some way and Y more for Shipping and Handeling, thus making the shirt, "used," and itemized as, "used tee shirt, $1.00."

So long as all of the charges are properly itemized, I don't see where this is illegal. I wonder if the package could be insured for the full price including the services applied to the shirt, so if it is lost, a whole new one could be purchased. Might that set off some alarms by automated checks?
"Hmm. Claimed value of item is $1.00, but the item is insured for $22.00. That doesn't make sense. Must be the work of TERRORISTS!"

If this is illegal, let me know and I'll remove this post or /dev/null it for a rule violation.

(I seem to recall people doing this with cars before importing them to their home European country-- they drive it around where they bought it until they put on Z number of miles, at which point they can import the car as used, and pay less in taxes back home.)

For extra money, I will wear the shirt while sleeping and not wash it. ;D
oh wait, that would decrease the value. O_o

but that is the point... decrease the value of a shirt by converting it from new to used.

Now, if both you and converge tried to wear the same shirt at the same time, your could really discount the value, because it could then be sold as a broken tee shirt.

                          Re: T-Shirts!

Spanish customs are a funny bunch. If you send whatever through USPS, it will go through without any trouble at all, they won't even slap duties or taxes on.

If you send via UPS however, it can take just as long as the more expensive USPS services (5-7 days), instead of the quoted 3 days, and you are guaranteed to have the package processed through customs, and taxes assessed, plus UPS' "handling fee". I've had shipments detained by customs for documentation inspection (meaning the inspector will browse through the papers when he feels like it) for over two weeks...

A tracked USPS service on a tee shouldn't go above $20 at all, and I will cover that. Cheaper that picking it up at DC, but a hell of a lot less fun :(
