Not a problem. I just want you to be aware of it in case it was tied to any db changes related to the poll.

Shouldn't that be "'put it on vibrate, the versatile partner will call as needed" ?

Nikita's right. There's a big distinction in restaurants. I expect to see and hear cell calls places ranging from McDonald's right up to Applebee's, but not someplace where it's 'fine dining.'

here's my answers... and in regards to the sex question, i don't usually mess with my phone prior to nookie cause its the last thing on my mind. I don't really give a crap about anyone calling me in the heat of passion, phones ring, people knock on doors, pets watch, all these things are common place in the real world. If you cant handle hearing 30 seconds of music while bumping uglies, you have focus issues and need to read a self help book or find a more engaging partner.

Ringers - Any volume is ok where talking is allowed an appropriate
Calls in Restaurants - You should can answer short calls but take longer calls outside, sms instead, unless your quiet and alone, or with close company who understands. ringer should be on vibrate or really quiet. also there is a difference between Denny's and more finer establishments.

SMS in Restaurants - It's not as obnoxious as calling, but your friends still don't like when you do it

Calls in Theaters - It's rude and distracting even getting up, if you expect emergency calls sit on an aisle in the back.
SMS in Theaters - In a darkened room, screen glow can be distracting. One Shouldn't TXT at all.

Over 10 is possible for mods ]:>

I'll make your poll because you started this topic, and I don't want to abuse any of my authority, oh yeah, and it is great having you on the forums. :-)

It will just take a little time to build it and try to diagnose the problem encountered, snd see if there is a solution.

Here's what I had hoped to post...

Ringers - Any volume is ok where talking is allowed
Ringers - Phones should be set to vibrate, both in theaters and other public places like restaurants
Ringers - Even vibrate alerts are distracting, phones should be set totally silent

Calls in Restaurants - Same as talking to neighbor at the table, talking on a phone is fine
Calls in Restaurants - You should can answer short calls but take longer calls outside
Calls in Restaurants - If you have to speak, get your ass out to the lobby (don't start the call on the way)
Calls in Restaurants - You shouldn't getup to take/make calls unless they're a total emergency

SMS in Restaurants - It's a better option than making calls, SMS is fine
SMS in Restaurants - It's not as obnoxious as calling, but your friends still don't like when you do it
SMS in Restaurants - SMS is just as rude as making phone calls and should be for emergencies only

Calls in Theaters - You should can answer short calls but take longer calls outside
Calls in Theaters - If you have to speak, get your ass out to the lobby (don't start the call on the way)
Calls in Theaters - It's rude and distracting even getting up, if you expect emergency calls sit on an aisle in the back

Perhaps you should have split out "Turn off" and "Vibrate" for the sex portion of the poll ... people might get the wrong idea. (I leave it as an exercise to the reader to determine what "wrong idea" means in this context.)

Treat a conversation on the phone like one that is in person. If you're talking louder than you would with someone at the table then you're an asshole. That means pretty much any time in a movie or quiet place.

Don't be an asshole, use text messaging :)

in a nearby thread about cel phone jamming a few situations arose in the discussion, with respect to what makes a cel phone user an asshole and what just comes with certain jobs or lifestyles. the big question that came up was restaurants and theaters. how do you personally handle things in those two locales? see the poll to make your voice heard.
